This week is #RoadSafetyWeek, an important road safety campaign which serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility we share in fostering safer road environments. Five people sadly lose their lives on UK roads every day, so raising awareness of the dangers of excess or inappropriate speed is so important. We share Brake, the road safety charity infographics below to highlight why speed matters, and other important facts to open up conversations about road safety. More resources and information can be found on their website: https://lnkd.in/gEyXPjp #RoadSafetyWeek #PersonalInjury #DLGLegalServices #LegalServices #makinglawaccessible

On this World Mental Health day, we want to give a big shout-out to our fantastic Mental Health First Aiders across all our sites and thank them for all they do. The theme this year is Wellbeing at Work and Work Life Balance. Talking about mental health is important but this isn’t always easy. We spend a lot of our time at work, and it’s important to take actions to ensure we are fostering a mentally healthy workplace. As well as a our Mental Health First Aiders, our colleagues at DLG Legal Services have access to an employee assistance programme to support them through any challenging situations. It is also important to look out for ourselves and others day to day, so we would like to take this opportunity to share resources from the Mental Health Foundation on how to support your own mental health and your colleagues at work: https://lnkd.in/e6Ek_wbe

This week, our Bromley teams kicked off the first of our fundraising mornings in support of Macmillan Cancer Support with a Coffee Morning. Our teams prepared an incredible selection of cakes, and of course, had a little friendly competition to see whose bakes would come out on top! A big thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and organised the morning and well done to our bake off winners Marleen Henery and Nithya De Silva! 🍰

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Daisy Britton and Amrit Lakhanpal to our Leeds office who joined us as our 2024 cohort of solicitor apprentices. Daisy and Amrit will spend the first few weeks completing induction training with us and BPP Law School, learning more about the work we do and their apprenticeship, before they begin their apprenticeship in our Customer Response team. We are very excited to welcome our new cohort and wish all the best to our 2023 cohort as they move into their new teams continuing to gain knowledge and experience of our areas of work and start their second year of study with BPP.

Football may not have come home as hoped over the weekend but that didn’t stop our teams from making the most of the occasion across our sites! Over the past couple of weeks, colleagues across our sites held football sweepstakes and in our Leeds office, the sweepstake was used to raise money for Martin’s House Children’s Hospice, who provide family-led hospice care free of charge for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses. Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to colleagues across our sites for organising!

The sun may have not showed its face last week but that didn’t stop our Leeds teams enjoying their summer social! The teams took on a variety of games including some highly competitive games of shuffle board, some very lively games electronic darts and, after a quick pause for refreshments, some very entertaining rounds of beer pong. This week is Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) Injury Awareness Week and the focus of this year is on highlighting the impact of avoidable workplace injuries. 2024 also marks 50 years of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 which sets out responsibilities for employers, employees and some self-employed individuals. Data from the HSE shows that 561,000 workers sustained a non-fatal injury at work in 2022/23 according to self-reports from the Labour Force Survey in 2022/23, with 3.7 million working days lost. This week highlights the importance of prevention for avoidable workplace injuries caused by negligence and the work that must continue to be done. We share APIL'S Injury Awareness Week 2024 blog post below: https://lnkd.in/eTyyN-37 #InjuryAwarenessWeek #AccidentsAtWork #DLGLegalServices
