Starting your career in sales? Remember, interviews are a two-way street. Just as much as the employer will be assessing yourself, you should also use these interviews as an opportunity to make sure that the role and the business is the best fit for you. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you're on the hunt for that perfect entry-level sales role: Company Culture: Find a company that feels like a good fit. A positive, supportive environment can make your job so much more enjoyable. Reach out to current individuals in similar positions at the business to find out more about the culture and what's on offer. Training and Development: Look for places that invest in training. Strong, relevant training means you'll be set up for success from day one and keep growing. For example, completing a training qualification like the Sales Executive Level 4. Career Advancement: Check if there are clear paths to move up. You want a company where you can grow and advance your career. Look at examples of individuals starting in your position and how they’ve progressed, keep an eye out for achievable KPIs and realistic progression timelines. Product/Service Passion: Selling something you genuinely believe in makes a big difference. Passion is key! Only interview with companies in industries that you can see yourself in for the foreseeable future.

VP of Sales and GTM @ Getida| Scaling the most customer centric GTM team in Amazon FBA Revenue Recovery| Mr. Revenue
Hey Sales People looking for jobs and going through interviews, if you are not following up after, you are hurting your chances dramatically. When I interview someone and get no follow up, I assume this is how they will run sales cycles and I rarely move them forward. Bad follow up can be equally detrimental. Don't send follow up like this: Hi Lou, It was great meeting you today. I am very excited about the role and think I will be a great fit. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Do follow up like this: *Reference specific items that were discussed in the interview and how your unique skill set will help to accomplish the goals discussed. *Touch on what you will do to achieve success in the role. A great question to ask in an interview is, "What would a successful person in this role have achieved a year from now?" Then tailor your email around that answer leaning into how you would do it. For example: Hi Lou, Your goals of growing the sales led revenue to 70% of the net new revenue for the org is extremely aggressive. But with the right people on the team I think it's very doable. We discussed how imperative self sourced opportunities would be to accomplish this. In my current role, I have self sourced 50% of my pipeline and contributed $560,000 in revenue from these efforts. I do this by heavy emphasis on multi-threading into accounts, managing sales cycles effectively, and getting ahead of any gotchas that may delay or kill deals, like the deal I closed with Acme we discussed in detail during our interview. My skillset would be a great fit for your aggressive goals and I am very excited about this opportunity. Please let me know if you'd like me to share references to validate anything we discussed today. Looking forward to hearing on next steps. Talk soon, Treat your interviews like you would a sales process: 1) Deep discovery 2) Tie your solution (you) to solving problems 3) Follow up with intent 4) Get ahead of next steps and what you need to do I hope this helps! #interviewing for #salesjobs

Director Talent Acquisition @ PrimeTime |Helping SaaS and Technology companies hires Sales, Marketing and Customer Success Candidates that can make a difference
The better questions you ask in the interview the higher your chances will be a successful outcome. For a Sales candidate certainly ask the basics. What is the quota? What is the territory? What is an average win and what does a big win look like? What is the base salary and the commission. How and when does it get paid out. Absolutely look at RepVue even before you apply for a position. One question that few people ask that will give you a great idea of who you are dealing with is. When the Sales candidate asks the Sales Leader "What do you credit your success to?" Then let them speak their answer should give you a great idea of the person you would be working for. What question do you like for a Sales candidate?

Excited to be expanding our sales team this morning! Lots of interviews lined up. ☕️ One of my.. greatest skills is finding incredible people. If I wasn’t a business owner I would definitely love to be in recruitment! A few things I look for aside from the standard qualifications etc 1. Work ethic, although it feels we are out of start-up mode, hard work and resilience is key. Everyone currently gives 110% everyday. This is a must. 2. Great energy, this may sound ridiculous but especially in sales if you don’t connect with someone or they don’t have the likeable factor it is very hard for them to sell. 3. They must have past experience… one of my weaknesses is that I am NOT good in sales. Give me marketing any day! But this lesson has enabled me to understand the value of an experienced sales person and how it is a golden quality to be able to close people. This comes from testing people with our scripts and trials. The proof is in the pudding as they say. Have a great day all, I would love to hear what qualities you look for when expanding your team. Business leader specializing in SaaS, Startups, Sales and Business transformation | Advisor - Sales and Market entry strategy | Passionate about Career conversations
Sales hiring is tricky and very surprising, I have often observed that the candidates tend to undersell themselves. Ironic isn't it, sellers not selling themselves 😕 The patterns for sales interviews are very similar and I jot these down below - 1- Understand the KPI/ quota achievement; this is easily verifiable via references and while you can make up numbers, the level of depth you can go to highlights your level of rigor and discipline esp because this is a number driven role. 2- Talk through the Sales process; the world has evolved from push sales to consultative sales. Talking about customer pain points, efforts in finding the right solution and then bringing value is all that the interviewer wishes to understand. 3- Navigating stakeholders and their varied objections - Start generic to specific, need I say more Anyone who has lived the sales life knows that these are the main elements of the role and if you're covered in these basics, it's hard to go wrong. Bonus tip - pls don't be cocky, it's annoying and not cool. #interviewtips #sales #careers #coaching
