Escuche a Joel Cabrera contar cómo aprovechar las capacitaciones en DN Tanks le permitió pasar de obrero a superintendente. #DNTanks #EmployeeDevelopment ********************************************************************************* Hear from Joel Cabrera on how taking advantage of the trainings at DN Tanks allowed him to grow from a Laborer to a Superintendent. #DNTanks #EmployeeDevelopment Three Ways I went from Laborer to Superintendent Joel Cabrera, Superintendent “I started at DN Tanks as a laborer, it was a steep learning curve because I was just starting to learn English. Everyone at DN Tanks encouraged me to keep going and practice, and I’m so glad I did.” “DN Tanks is committed to our learning and development, and I took advantage of every training DN Tanks offered me. Some of these were formal trainings like wire winding, and others were more informal, like asking my Superintendent to guide me through reading site drawings. This helped me develop my skills and confidence." “The last thing, what helped me the most, is just hard work and having confidence in yourself. If you are willing to learn by showing initiative, the people around you are going to see that and want to help you succeed.”

Just because it looks safe and sturdy does not always mean it is. That’s why it’s essential for all backhoe and excavator operators, as well as general labourers, to thoroughly understand the rules and regulations about trench safety. Trained employees should be actively thinking about safety and making the right decisions that contribute to the perfect balance between safety and productivity. Students will learn how to avoid common mistakes such as: 🚧 Spoil too close to the trench 🚧 Not watching for unstable ground 🚧 Not stepping downsides 🚧 Allowing personnel into unsupported excavations 🚧 Getting too close to underground utilities Sign up now to avoid injury and damage to equipment and public property. https://bit.ly/3ST7iHw

Training and policy will teach you to add a hydrant gate on one of the secondary ports of a hydrant. Experience will teach you to swivel the hydrant gate into a lowered position so that you can open and close the hydrant without hitting the gate every turn. The trick is to never to rely solely on training and policy, but to understand that many before you have made the same mistakes that you’re about to. Experience just means you’ve made a lot of mistakes, but hopefully have learned from them.

Whilst all of our training centres in the UK and Ireland offer the full suite of Confined Space Entries offered by the 6160 scheme, our training centres may be able to deliver these courses using some of the specialist equipment you use like davits. As with all good entries your process should start with a well written RAMS that is site specific and the C&G courses emphasise this throughout. But those RAMS may determine that your entry needs to be made using an A Frame, Davit, Tripod or more specialised entry attachment like Catwalk Davits, Pole Hoists, Y Frames or even Nylon Rope Systems when nothing else suits for a sewage entry, despite current advise being that nylon ropes shouldn't be used for sewage entries because of bacterial contamination. But when done correctly the RAMS will lead you to which ever system is fit for purpose. So, we are always happy to try and offer what ever system is used most frequently by our clients within our C&G courses. Having all of this equipment stocked at our sites also means that we can include almost what ever is needed at very short notice. This does mean that our courses may sometimes run on longer than we expect due to more extensive questions that are raised when we are delivering the training, but we are after all ensuring that we deliver competence and worker safety, not just an invoice. The image below shows a daring rope rescue training scenario at Ok Tedi Gold Mine in 2019. My team and I took turns getting suspended from two ropes attached to a bridge structure approximately 50 meters above the ground. The terrain below appears rocky, and the sky is partly cloudy. Why is this training crucial for eliminating height phobia? Desensitization: Regular exposure to heights during training helps desensitize individuals. By gradually acclimating to elevated environments, responders can reduce anxiety and build confidence. Real-Life Simulations: Rope rescue training simulates actual rescue scenarios. Familiarity with equipment, techniques, and working at heights ensures effective performance during emergencies. Risk Mitigation: Hesitation or fear in high-altitude situations can lead to critical delays. Training minimizes these risks, ensuring timely and efficient responses. Regular training ensures we are well-prepared to handle challenging situations.
