Yesterday, we hosted our annual Sustainability Summit, bringing together industry experts, scholars, and business leaders to tackle the pressing challenge of climate change. Our president, Stuart Dawkins, kicked off the event, emphasising the urgency of taking action and the importance of adjusting to environmental needs. The #EMSust24 partner University of Derby's Dr Chris Bussell provided the perfect backdrop for this discussion. Key Insights from our speakers: 🌎 Dr Polina Baranova unveiled the latest findings from the 9th year of our unique East Midlands Green Growth Trends research. Her presentation offered invaluable insights into supporting businesses in their transition to net zero. 🌎 Julie Adams from Auditel delivered a thought-provoking keynote on "Driving Change: Carbon Maturity and the Scope 3 Challenge." She stressed the need for a holistic approach to emissions reduction, highlighting how managing Scope 3 emissions can drive meaningful change across entire supply chains. 🌎 Becky Valentine of Spenbeck shed light on optimizing stakeholder engagement for sustainability success. She addressed key barriers to climate engagement and offered solutions to help businesses manage the psychological impact of climate change on overall performance. 🌎 Andy Wright from Samworth Brothers presented an illuminating case study on data-driven decarbonisation. He shared how they're leveraging data across their value chain to drive insights and action in the complex global food system. Our panel discussion, skillfully moderated by our Richard Blackmore, brought together diverse perspectives: 🎤 James Cunningham, Geo Green Power 🎤 Ewan Johnson, University of Derby student, head of Enactus Derby and student marketer for Red Bull 🎤 Dr Polina Baranova, University of Derby 🎤 Julie Adams, Auditel (U.K.) Limited They explored innovative approaches to overcoming barriers in the transition to #netzero and strategies for combating "climate fatigue". Thank you for the invitation to speak. This Summit is essential attendance for all businesses, with relevance for everyone. To have such support from the Chamber is vital for our shared prosperity (yes, including the planet!) and the region is a better place for it 🙏
Well done to the East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire) for putting on such an insightful event. Having attended a few years ago it was evident that there had been a lot of thought into how the event can grow from a content & engagement perspective, therefore appealing and inspiring all types of business. Great to be involved and well done to Ian Bates!
Very insightful event - thanks 🙏
