Happy Friday Berlin! What a great week, we have not 1 but 2 live events planned for mid-June with a 3rd due to be announced, keep your eyes peeled 👀 On the 12th June we have our TypeScript Live meet ups with 3-fantastic guest speakers. 13th June is our Engineering Leadership Meetup, we also have some world class presentations at that event as well. Why should you attend these events though???? Well, its a great way to connect with people in YOUR industry, there will be close to 100 people at each event! The speakers we have lined up are top class and have been doing presentations for a number of years and are highly experienced so hopefully you may learn something from attending the events. This is a way of getting your personal brand out there, forget LinkedIn and social media for a second, NOTHING beats the feeling of meeting up with like-minded people face to face. OH and there will be complimentary food and drink throughout the evening so you won't have to make dinner! Post-DICE Summit Reflection: In times of crisis, does our industry choose to focus on survival—or transformation? It’s been an inspiring week at DICE Summit—huge thanks to the organisers for bringing us all together. In my fireside chat with Leanne Loombe, we discussed one of the hardest balancing acts I’ve had to navigate at Arrowhead: knowing when to optimise for the constraints of the present and when to push toward the vision of the future. If we get too stuck in the present, we risk repeating the same patterns. But if we focus too much on the future, we might not survive long enough to see it through. Amid the financial instability and layoffs happening now, this is a challenge that the industry as a whole is also facing right now. But this also bring an opportunity to rethink and rebuild, which is why I was particularly inspired by: - Fawzi Mesmar, who in his talk shared how our personal experiences can fuel not only deep creativity but also inspire unique approaches to game development and problem-solving. - Min Kim, who highlighted the need for business leaders to better understand the creative processes that fuel the success of our industry, in order for more great games to see the light of day. - Trent Kusters,  whose knowledge, resilience, and commitment inspired me to feel more optimistic about my own ability to lead. - And a very special mention to Alan Gershenfeld, whose expectations for leadership within our industry to make the world a better place had an immediate and profound impact on me. Thank you for challenging me to think bigger. And finally, a big thank you to my sister, Amanda McKee. In a week filled with reflections on leadership and resilience, I’m reminded that none of us can do it alone. Thanks for joining me this week, you're amazing, sis! I’ve loved meeting so many people with silver linings in their pockets, ready to rethink how we do things. My take-away from this week is that survival is only half the battle.
