I asked Devin Bramhall how startups should get started with content marketing. She said they shouldn't. - This was one of my favorite episodes of #GrowandTell to record. Devin told the unfiltered story of her time as CEO of Animalz — a B2B content marketing agency for companies like Google, Amazon, Slack, Facebook, GoDaddy, and Lattice (I was a happy customer back in the day). We talked about how the agency was able to scale to over $11.5M in revenue and 130 employees at its peak. Then we spent the back half of the episode talking about how startups and founders should think about content marketing in 2024. Spoiler: Devin thinks it's time to throw out the old playbooks. - You can watch or listen to the episode here: https://lnkd.in/g2KPBQEi
Shots fired, Devin Bramhall 🤣 - thanks for coming on the show, this ep was amazing
Agree. SEO-driven content for startups takes way too long to get traction and is generally not aligned with quick wins. Quick wins, in general, are often won via paid media (this depends on the industry, of course). Spending 12-18 months doing SEO to potentially breakeven ROI is definitely not an approach most startups should be focused on.
I must watch the episode and think about should I consider throughing the old playbook. I have read dozens of books on startup and founders and business, let's see if this episode can enlightened me.
Always bringing it, Devin Bramhall
PLAYBOOKS ARE DEAD and I've never been happier 😅 Alex love your pod and you're an awesome interviewer. Thanks for having me on the show!
