No way around it. New customer goes live or a new award goes live and it’s time to learn by doing. And unfortunately that means things like bad contacts, wrong addresses, no scheduling portal links/directions around pickups and deliveries, a lack of clear direction on routing/stops, best practices, etc. As a new broker or carrier executes on business they build out SOPs to fill in all these gaps and details, but then if they move on from that lane, that information goes with them. I’m curious. I imagine shippers are weighing their options: Option 1: Own SOPs for your lanes, maintain them and solicit current providers for feedback to keep them updated, so you can pass them along as providers change or as your team members need them, update them when you are notified of changes from your vendors/customers, etc. Your goal is to reduce costs of non-compliance by ensuring your providers will not have a learning curve marked with mistakes that might cause inefficiencies or chargebacks. Option 2: allow your partners to take on this lift. You save time if you view it as a part of your supplier's job to gather the information needed to be successful and execute on it. You accept that issues with loads at the beginning of awards are going to be a part of your business and you will handle them as they arise. I’m honestly not sure I can see one being better than the other in every scenario. What do you think?
