How to unlock 300 GW of wind power in the North Sea. At the North Sea Wind Power Hub, we have studied an innovative approach to unlocking the potential from offshore wind. After five years of work, we can show that a hubs-and-spokes approach will 1) meet the EU goals for renewable energy, 2) secure energy supply and deliver a high degree of European energy independence, 3) all in a cost competitive way. The map shows what a future hubs-and-spokes buildout could look like. We recently released our two main reports that conclude all the work from our three TSO’s – Energinet, Gasunie and TenneT, co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union. 🗺️🔍 Check out this Storymap for an in-depth look into the data-driven science and marine spatial planning process used to pinpoint the most suitable locations for offshore wind development offshore Oregon. 🤝🌐 By assessing over 30 data layers – on fisheries, protected species, industry, and wind speeds – we partnered with @NCCOS to craft a detailed map that identifies areas with the least conflict with other ocean users. This approach ensures that we can balance the needs of all stakeholders, including tribal and local communities to industry representatives and environmental conservation groups. 🌊⚡Dive into the science driving our decision-making process and discover the potential for Oregon’s renewable energy future! #UnleashTheScience

It’s an important day for New England energy! Today, our grid operator, ISO New England Inc., filed with FERC critical changes to its rules to implement a state-driven procurement process for regional transmission. If FERC approves the changes, the New England states will be positioned to request that ISO New England issue an RFP for offshore wind transmission or other facilities that would provide benefits across the region. These are exactly the kind of proactive steps we need to get projects designed, developed, and deployed on our path to a clean energy future! https://lnkd.in/eMm7ah_G
