Genomic advancements, such as gene editing, personalised medicine, and advanced diagnostics, hold immense promise in revolutionising healthcare. However, the realisation of these benefits depends on strategic investments in cutting-edge technologies that facilitate accurate, efficient, and scalable genomic research and applications. Equally important is the creation of a regulatory and policy framework that ensures ethical, safe, and equitable deployment of genomic technologies. Clear guidelines can address ethical dilemmas, such as privacy concerns related to genetic data, and prevent misuse, such as unauthorised gene editing. Furthermore, regulatory oversight fosters public trust and encourages innovation by providing a stable and predictable environment for researchers and investors. Adequate policy frameworks can also promote equitable access to genomic advancements for the many, not just the few.
