Whether you're zipping under the city, crossing the harbour, or passing through a mountain, tunnels are crucial to Australia's road and rail networks. These feats of engineering, some stretching up to nine kilometres, require precise planning and constant upkeep. The research into tunnel line marking ensures safety, preventing disasters we only want to see in movies like Daylight. While most don’t notice, road markings are essential for safety. At Dolphin Line Marking, we value the CSIRO’s efforts in testing and accrediting road marking materials, ensuring durability and performance for safer travel. 🌟 #Infrastructure#Safety#Engineering#Innovation CSIRO

Westport is the WA Government's plan to move container trade from Fremantle to Kwinana, to support the WA economy for the next 100 years. The below snapshot shows how much consideration has been made for the transport connections for the freight corridor of the existing road and rail connections, and also the economic impact, sustainability and community benefits. #infrastructure #watrade #westport #kwinana #transport #economy #future #wagovernment #eciexecutive #localnews
PROJECT SNAPSHOT - Westport - Kwinana - Port & Associated Infrastructure Interesting flythrough of the upcoming Westport project; looks very exciting and a great potential addition to the infrastructure capability for Perth/WA. Passaging ships can present a serious challenges to port operations. As a global expert in maritime operations I am always impressed by the insights Alex and his team can generate. Some of this expertise has been codified into our software Smartmooring. The power of bringing expertise, data and technology together. #LNG #Shipping #Energy
Optimize your mooring safety with our advanced analysis of passing vessels! Passing vessels present a complex challenge in maritime operations. Ships moored in harbours are prone to hydrodynamic forces from passing ships nearby, which can induce motions that affect (off)loading operations or damage the mooring system. In extreme cases, parted mooring lines can result in personal injuries. Within Royal HaskoningDHV, our expertise lies in understanding these forces and predicting their precise effects on both single and side-by-side moored ships. With advanced simulations, my team enhances mooring safety and efficiency, ensuring your mooring systems are prepared for the dynamic maritime environment. Keeping personal safety, environmental protection and infrastructure damage in mind, we assess the potential consequences of passing vessels and find solutions to ensure safe mooring. Contact us to navigate passing vessel complexities with confidence. #RoyalHaskoningDHV #Passing #Vessels #DMA #maritimesafety

THE IRISH SEA PIONEER ACMA was involved in the original design development of the Irish Sea Pioneer, a four-legged jack-up work vessel for use in the Irish Sea. With high currents and the requirement to safely approach fixed jackets from even the upcurrent or wind side, the legs and propulsion system were high priorities in the design. ACMA provided analyses to confirm that typical cylindrical legs coupled with fixed propulsion systems would not meet the intended performance targets. Lattice legs and four azimuthing thrusters were the end result. During sea trials, the captain had to be reminded that the vessel did not need to be turned in a different direction; the thruster vector needed to be changed to the desired direction, and the vessel would go that way. It's great to see she is still operating. For those new to the maritime industry, here's a quick guide to important ship design terms; *Length Overall (LOA): The full length of the ship from front (bow) to back (stern). *Centre Line: An imaginary line down the middle of the ship, dividing it into two equal halves. *Stern Centre Manifold (SCM) and Bow Centre Manifold (BCM): Points on the ship for loading and unloading cargo, located near the stern and bow, respectively. *Midships: The midpoint of the ship. *Beam: The widest part of the ship. *Stern: The back end of the ship. *Bridge: The control center of the ship, usually located near the midpoint. *Forecastle: The forward part of the upper deck, often used for crew accommodations and storage. Knowing these basics helps improve communication and efficiency in maritime operations. #Maritime #ShipDesign #Logistics #ShippingIndustry #CargoHandling
