This is what success looks like. Making primary care a priority clearly pays off. The first step to transform our system is to attract and retain our family physicians into clinics and longitudinal care. Once we get them in or back, we surround them with an awesome team and connect them to their communities and the rest of the healthcare system. Simple works.

My question of the day: how many times a day at your #urgentcare do you have a young adult patient without any significant medical history, and even yet, no significant family history come in with chest pain. The staff obtains an #ECG and it’s “abnormal.” History and physical exam findings do not support a cardiac etiology and lifestyle history is low risk. But you’ve still got the abnormal ECG. So what do you do, refer to the already overrun #emergencydepartment? Can’t refer to cardiology because they don’t accept patients without the full work up and to establish with a PCP is 3-4 months out. I suspect a fair amount of #emergent referrals from urgent care is to due to CYB (cover your butt from litigation) then actual medical science. What’s the solution to this? 📷: ECGlibrary.com

The session provided a comprehensive overview of each component of the approach, offering valuable insights into its practical application. Are you a patient or a parent of a child with a chronic congenital colorectal condition? Do you know that medical records are not kept forever in the hospital? In the USA, it varies by State but, generally speaking, records are kept between 10 and 25 years since the patient was last seen. What does that mean? If you (patient) or your child is now 40 years of age, we don’t have access to the main reconstruction operative report anymore, for example, if it happened during the first years of life. What can you do about it? If you are reading this post, start a personal archive of your child medical records. Make sure you have a copy of the operative reports as well as important images. If you are a doctor, advise your patients to have a copy of their records. *We don’t know for how long electronic medical records will be kept.
