As as an Architect, designing a home and having it constructed for a client can take a couple of years. In this period you really get to know them and often enough what started out as the prefered brief, gets changed because you immerse yourself in their world and you quickly discover that they were not clear on what their real pain points were. We would observe them in their current homes and dig deep to understand what was motivating them to have a new home extension or a whole new home constructed. The passage of time too can have an effect on what the client thought they wanted. Understanding these aspects has allowed us to create a better home and experience for our clients.

Selecting the Right Architect for Your Dream Home When it comes to selecting an architect for your dream home, it's essential to avoid common mistakes and take a thoughtful approach. Don't solely rely on recommendations from friends or real estate agents: While recommendations can be helpful, they may limit your options since they might not have the necessary expertise to assess architectural competence. It's important to broaden your search and explore a variety of sources. Conduct thorough research: Take the time to create a comprehensive list of architects in your area. Instead of judging an architect solely based on popularity or the number of projects in a specific neighborhood, consider their portfolio, expertise, and design philosophy. Look for architects who align with your vision and have experience in the type of project you are undertaking. #designservices #longislandarchitect #nycarchitect

Thinking About an Addition or New Build But Don’t Know Where to Start? If you’re considering an addition or starting a new build but aren’t sure where to begin, a Feasibility Review is a great first step. It helps you: 🏡 Navigate Zoning Rules: Know what’s allowed on your property. 🔍 Identify Challenges Early: Avoid surprises and costly setbacks. 🌟 Explore Opportunities: Maximize your property’s potential. 📈 Set Realistic Expectations: Align your vision with what’s achievable. This review is key to turning your initial ideas into a clear, actionable plan. For this stage, you will need to have: 📜 A recent (15-20 years) survey of your property provided by a licensed surveyor (If you don't have one, Tight House can provide some contacts of providers. The owner must provide the survey.) 📸 Photos of your home or property (A Zillow listing usually is enough.) ❓ Some idea about the "WHY?" of your project: Whether it’s - needing more space for kids and activities - accommodating parents or extended family comfortably - refreshing tired layouts to improve functionality - blending historic charm with modern amenities - creating a personalized retreat for relaxation and gatherings Knowing the “why” is the catalyst for shaping how we develop your vision into a reality. Tight House delivers your Feasibility Review within 10 business days, offering real, tangible insights into your project. This thorough analysis provides you with a clear understanding of your options and next steps, helping you move forward with confidence. "Building your dream home? Don't let it turn into a nightmare - choose the right architect!" 👉When it comes to designing your perfect space, the architect you choose can make all the difference. As an architect myself, I've seen firsthand how the right partnership can bring your vision to life. But with so many professionals out there, how do you find the perfect fit?🤔 🌟Here are my top tips for choosing the right architect: ☑️ Look for a shared vision: Your architect should understand your style and goals. ☑️Check their credentials: Ensure they're licensed, experienced, and have a good reputation. ☑️Communication is key: You want someone who listens and keeps you informed. ☑️Portfolio power: Review their past work to see if it aligns with your taste. ☑️Ask about their process: Understand how they work and what to expect. ☑️Get references: Ask past clients about their experiences. 🌟Additionally, consider the following: ☑️What's your budget? Ensure your architect is comfortable working within it. ☑️What's the scope of the project? Ensure your architect has experience with similar projects. ☑️How will you work together? Establish a clear communication plan. By taking the time to find the right architect, you'll avoid costly mistakes and ensure your dream home becomes a reality 💯 By following these guidelines, you'll find an architect who will turn your dreams into reality.
