Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer at Dominion Energy

Barehanding was one of the most memorable experiences I have had at Dominion Energy! Not many people can say they have safely touched an energized transmission line. We have fewer than 100 employees who are qualified to perform or supervise maintenance on energized transmission lines, so this experience provided a valuable perspective on their specialty work. Barehanding is not only safe when performed correctly but is important to our reliability, as it enables us to keep the power flowing for our customers even when we need to make repairs. My fellow Dominion Energy colleagues Joe Woomer, Brandon Stites, Tonya James, Caroline McConnell, PHR, MHRM, Lauren Lopez, Allen Davidson, William Coyle, Ronnie Betts, Stefanie Harris, Ryan Joyce and Heather Hill, CAP became members of the “Barehand Club” with me.

Fantastic Robert. I First barehanded in 1987. FPL, then AEP and next was (Va Power, Vepco, Doninion). I have probably “bonded on” 20,000 times. 765kV is the best. Never gets dull. Congrats and i continue to to be greatful of HVA’s relationship with Dominion Energy.

This is an honor, as many have not been invited, both current and former employees, to join the bare hand club.

Good for you. This is a great way to establish a connection to the line workers. I remember going up in a bucket with an experienced lineman and doing other tasks along side others. It can be humbling, but you go away with a respect of those workers who do this every day.

Very cool experience if you get the chance. I have done it twice on 765kv.
