So which nuclear backup fission or fusion? Fission is becoming redundant faster as it is "out of step, interim and out of time, out of place in the world, and soon decommissioned due to fissile fuel shortage. It will be interesting as the fission fuel shortage becomes real as they try to treble the industry and advances in the renewables, hydrogen grid variable generation and batteries and fusion as a system solution of energy generation for the whole of the world and not just 39 countries out of 189 not for just the rich but for all without weaponisation, without pollution of our waterways and without the need to bury waste that is dangerous for 1000 of tears what a waste of time you are here. Fission is an interim unlike fusion and renewables, with the grid-attached variable hydrogen generators and batteries which are deploying faster in 189 countries, covering new jobs, income to countries as well as new industries and technologies as opposed to the 39 that fission can Fission fuel. A safe, secure, clean energy system is only achievable through nuclear power and SMRs are right now the most cost-effective and scalable source of energy. It makes sense that Alberta is exploring this advantage.

Great to see Alberta take another step towards deploying their first nuclear reactor. Not only can nuclear technology help to decarbonize Alberta's electricity grid, but it can also reduce emissions from oil production. High temperature gas reactors, like USNC's MMR, are ideally suited to provide process heat and hydrogen for Alberta to develop its oil resources with a lessened carbon intensity.

Is nuclear power finally pushing ahead in Alberta? After years of talking about nuclear development, OPG and Capital Power seem to have taken a first step towards developing Small Modular Reactors in Alberta. Fossil fuels are not sustainable and it's time for a change sooner rather than later so the big debate is renewables and/or nuclear. The thing that is obvious from our poll is that not enough of the country is informed enough to make a decision.
