The Port of Virginia and Dominion Energy achieved a major milestone today with the arrival of the first Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) substation at Portsmouth Marine Terminal. The substation is the first of its kind to ever arrive at a US East Coast port and, at more than 4,000 tons, is the heaviest piece of equipment ever handled at the port. Once operational, energy generated by the wind turbines 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach will be bundled at the offshore substation and exported to shore. Great news! Kenneth keep up your good work with the Doninion Wind Turbine project. We are very supportive of the turbines and what they will bring to our electrical system. As Dominion retiree of 41 years, I know the importance of alternative energy. Thank you, Lloyd Scott and Dale Scott

Congratulations Dominion Energy on your achievement! 🌊💨 We're always thrilled to see renewable energy projects advancing towards a more sustainable future!

It arrived from where?

For the Geological Survey of South Australia and BlueScope professionals, another shot of the offshore substation for Dominion Energy. From the comments below the module was sourced from Aalburg, Denmark but South Australian substation solutions generally have to be resistant to salty soil. It may more effective just to float Port Augusta designs, then improve them. So, providing training for the whole windy and salty South Australian network.

Great update Dominion Energy! Hoping your offshore wind project gets up and running as soon as possible. Once all of us see that offshore wind turbines can produce energy for the better part of or throughout an entire 24 hour period, my hunch is that some of the current obstacles the industry currently faces will begin to subside. Maybe you could provide the daily electricity generated/available for dispatch on a daily 24-hour basis by the CVOW pilot project's 2 offshore WTGs 27 miles off Virginia's coast. This data could be depicted in a graph or chart and then posted for everyone to see?

It has been an honor to contribute to such a magnificent engineering masterpiece. Geoclima
