#Partnerships #TheInsider McDonald's will offer Krispy Kreme doughnuts in all its U.S. locations by the end of 2026, extending a partnership begun in 2022. This move is part complimentary part cannibalising. Its a good move if Mc Donalds sees its sweet menu not doing well and is facing competition from those who have a strong sweet menu. Given that they are renewing the contract, its obviously worked for them. For Mc Donalds- its about capturing the breakfast market. Which is already very competitive in the US. They ran a successful pilot in some cities and got good feedback on it. Mc Donalds is approaching it as a vendor for its Mc Cafe offering. Intriguingly Dunkin Donuts has got a considerable share in the breakfast share. I liked the way Krispy kreme looked at it-It increases their Points of Access. A nice way to think of distribution. Of course it takes away some marjin, which is why I think the strategy is powerful. A goal like increasing Points of Access at any cost, letting it affect your topline. Some concerns on the quality side do exist- Will the doughnuts be fresh? To which some argue Mc Donalds can re-heat them. For me the takeaway is Strategy versus Topline. Goal setting for the long run. Ironically thats what Mc Donalds started with in the first place. Being profitable in the long run. Would also be interesting to see what Dunkin Donuts does.- Try the same game or change the game via price? Or maybe they add sour to their offerring. #strategy #distribution

As many of you have heard, Burger King's Plans to shut down 400 underperforming or outdated locations in 2024. This could be a great opportunity for STNL Developers to pick up 2nd generation buildings in great locations for pennies on the dollar. In fact, I already saw 2 Ohio locations on Costar this morning being auctioned off starting at 250k! There has been speculation that Burger King is  going bankrupt, however although they are facing some financial trouble, they actually have some pretty exciting expansion plans. Burger King’s parent company, Restaurant Brands International, just acquired the largest Burger King franchisee, Carrols, with 1,022 locations. This acquisition accompanied by around $900 million dedicated to remodels, leveraging Carrols strong operations team, refranchising its restaurant network, and pumping money into advertising should help reposition Burger King in order to stay relevant for years to come. Now Krispy Kreme is again looking to expand distribution through a partnership with McDonald's. Have they cracked the code this time or have they sacrificed what their fans love about them most to tap into the power of the McDonald's brand? The worst agency advice you will ever hear: (and everyone says it) “Hire talented people and let them do everything for you" You want to operate like Burger King. Make a whopper, the same way, every time. That is how you scale a business. Imagine if you had 7 chefs making their own whopper in every store. Burger King would not grow. Your job as the owner is to use context to define the exact process in which things must happen to keep the quality of the work to that standard for your business.
