The best day of the month is Vistage Day. My CE group meets today--the 3rd Wednesday of the month. We are having an executive session and I am getting excited to dive into a plethora decisions, challenges and opportunities that are vexing my members. Providing awareness, perspective and insight are really the biggest joys as a Vistage Chair. With new understanding my members make better decisions and have better outcomes. My efforts can scale based on the reach of of the stakeholders of my members. Like a pebble in a pond. The impact can expand in all directions. It got me thinking - who puts the time in male or female? I had to look it up 😂 … it’s both ! Nice one Storks 🥰 Every year, storks return to the same nest, refurbishing what’s already there, and making it stronger and better with each season. The male might gather the sticks, but it’s the female who arranges them into a home that’s safe and secure. 🥲 Neither can do it alone—each depends on the other to get the job done. As a business owner, I know this well. I might have the vision, but it’s my incredible team that turns that vision into reality. They handle the details, refine our processes, and make sure that each year, we come back stronger and better than before. Just like those storks, we’re always building, improving, and ensuring that our business stays strong and stable. I couldn’t do it without them, and I wouldn’t want to! What I love most across both of my companies, is the rewarding sense of building on the strong foundations laid down, learning invaluable lessons along the way. Each experience adds a new layer of strength, helping me to grow, evolve, and go further. On Saturday October 12th, I was a Speaker for NVNC - Nederlandse Vereniging voor Natuurcoaches as Chair. Walk of Life is an initiative by Nienke van Ree and Hannah Verboom, to get people moving. Specifically when you experience mentally tough times. The best, easiest way to give yourself space is to get moving. Go outside, breath oxygen and clear your head. At our recent taster sessions for Think Like A Forest Fundamentals I took the time to map some of the themes that attendees were sharing with us as the session ran. Challenges, motivations and potentials in their businesses or roles. Mapping it alongside our 6 system dimension framework to show how our frameworks easily support you on your regenerative journey. The aim is to make the complex more simple. So your time and energy is focused. (With observation being a crucial beginning to understanding your "How".) The six systems dimensions has helped me and my business too When I began collaborating with Sarah Elliott Spencer on programme co-creation a few years ago now. I bought my 4 phase model that I use in team coaching. Self (inner/outer), team, org and wider ripples. The latter usually led to discussions of ecosystems, community and partnerships. Sarah and I delved into the "wider ripples" to understand the core elements of what lay within them. Land and workplace were simple to understand and important to consider our relationship with. My "ecosystems" were not just my work in the woods, but those of my clients, or even the wider UK. Species I'd love to ensure maintained the wild so the lushness of life is ever present. Sarah invited me to consider it as far as The Biosphere without losing faith in the "It's too big to think about that" Seeing the bigger picture AND the detail. Even a solopreneur like me began to consider how my business could be impacting or benefiting globally. From being curious about my suppliers, to considering how my work benefitted the wider world issues and didnt contribute to them further. The term "nested system" reminds us of the interconnection of all these elements. That ALL are important and our own 'ripples' create wider ones. You might not think your tiny weeny organisation (in the grand scale of global) could make important changes. But with small to medium businesses making up around 75-90% of the economy in many regions of the UK. Maybe we can actually. The people that attend our taster sessions shared their awareness that we can't keep going the way we are. That some sort of change is inevitable and many are ready for that to be something they can positively steward. One lady said we had left her with hope. Hope is what we need in the complexity of change and uncertainty. Action too. And a community to be alongside us. Because this purpose-led stuff is lonely and complex. But it's easier with others to unlearn, explore and make sense. That's why we are here. An interesting read from the Kotahitanga mō te Taiao Alliance, marking the end of a busy year for them.

I recently spent a couple of days at Aviemore Resort with the SaxaVord Spaceport crew, discussing teamwork, progress, and the future. Our CEO, Frank Strang MBE, promotes a very flat organisational structure, which gave me the opportunity to sit, among others, with Tam. Tam is a Glaswegian bricklayer. Early in the conversation, he commented to our Deputy CEO Scott Hammond about how he was building "Scott's Spaceport." Scott immediately corrected him; "You mean our spaceport." Leadership 101 – it's all about the team effort. There are probably thousands of space consultants and business people in the world; to coin a phrase, it's a congested and contested field. But there are very few Tams. Tam is, quite literally, building space history with his bare hands. Brick. By. Brick. And of this, Tam is fiercely proud. As he modestly described his role in helping to build the UK's only licensed spaceport on the northern tip of Scotland - often in dark, difficult conditions - Tam conveyed more about teamwork and commitment than any MBA program ever could. Tam is continuing Scotland's incredible heritage of building challenging and ground-breaking structures: beautiful bridges, world-beating ships...and now, functioning spaceports. It's often said that space is hard. That "hard" begins with people like Tam. #WeareSaxa
