Women-focused mental health is not one-size-fits-all. There are many different factors that result in how a woman makes sense of and approaches her mental wellbeing, nuanced by ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, and traumatic experiences. Yet despite these differences, there are many shared themes within women’s mental health across the world, such as stigma, lack of resources for treatment, and shared risk factors for mental illness. As providers, we have an opportunity to be inclusive of and sensitive to female patients with different world views, especially of the mind-body connection, which is more representative of how most of the world makes sense of mental illness. At Health for Mzansi, our goal is to understand and improve health in Kasi communities. This June, we're raising awareness about men's mental health. Men often feel pressured to "man up," and society's expectation for them to be strong and silent can significantly harm their well-being. Experts stress that fostering open communication and encouraging emotional expression from a young age can save lives. It’s crucial to challenge these norms and create supportive environments for men's mental health. Delve deeper into the topic: https://lnkd.in/dxpHhinQ #MentalHealthMatters #WellBeing #SupportMen

Why do men have difficulty talking about #mentalhealth? In our latest blog, we want to share why it can be challenging for Men to open up about their mental health. Due to self-stigma and the social stigma of unconscious masculine ideals that have been culturally ingrained and socialised into their self-perception and identity as men. The data is still worrying, but at the same time, there is a new perception of masculinity, allowing men the room to be more sensitive and open up about their feelings. #wellbeingatwork #breakthestigma #hr https://lnkd.in/dbnQuBMu
