AI and ADHD: A New World of Productivity for Neurodivergent Thinkers? It's certainly been a revelation for me. In a world that often feels designed for neurotypical minds, those of us with ADHD, dyslexia, or other neurodivergent traits can sometimes struggle to capture our teeming, darting thoughts. But what if I told you there's a game-changing tech that could help bridge the gap between our brilliantly chaotic thought processes and the structured demands of work and daily life? Enter Artificial Intelligence (AI) - not as a “fix” for neurodiversity, but as a powerful ally that can harness the power of unconventional yet fertile minds. Imagine having a tireless assistant that: --Helps organize your swirling thoughts into coherent structures --Adapts to your non-linear thinking patterns --Provides instant, judgment-free brainstorming sessions --Breaks down complex tasks into manageable steps For neurodivergent thinkers, AI tools can unlock our full potential, allowing us to catch and reel in our ideas as rapidly as they swirl through our minds. AI diagnosing ADHD sounds like a sci-fi dream, but I've got some reservations. Machine learning might spot brain patterns, but can it really understand a child's unique quirks? Picture a bouncy, fidgety child. In a stuffy classroom, they might seem disruptive. But plop them in a hands-on learning space, and that energy could spark creativity! The AI needs a teacher's insight. We've got to look at how a child's environment shapes their behavior. Is a traditional classroom stifling their potential? Would a different approach let them shine? ADHD isn't just a label; it's a unique way of experiencing the world. So, let's use AI wisely, but not lose sight of each child's special strengths. With a blend of cutting-edge tech and old-fashioned intuition, we could create a brighter future for every child, no matter how their mind works.

I taught an AI to work with my ADHD brain. Now my to-do list makes sense. (Part 1/2) The irony: Using a machine to be more human I've been using Claude, an AI from Anthropic, to create a personalized ADHD management system. Here's how I'm doing it: - JSON files are my friend. I'm structuring info about my projects, tasks, and myself in JSON. It's like giving Claude a manual for 'How to Understand Bryce'. - Curate the knowledge base: I've fed Claude ADHD research that resonates with me. It's selecting insights that match my experiences. - Bad advice database: I've compiled all those times someone told me to "just focus" into a 'what not to do' guide for Claude. The result? An AI assistant that's getting better at managing my ADHD. It's not perfect, but it's better than any universal solution I've tried. Stay around for Part 2, where I'll share more about my process and how you can start creating your own personalized AI assistant! #ADHD #ArtificialIntelligence #claude

Studying AI is just as important as building with it. The journey of building with AI gets more exciting when aligned with something that interests you. For me, it's ADHD. I'm using AI to build an early diagnosis tool for ADHD. There are people waiting months or even years for a diagnosis that can change their lives the way it changed mine. Diagnoses validate people, and get people access to life-saving and life-changing accommodations and medication. It helps them get access I believe that AI can help with this. I'm using my story as a late diagnosed ADHD with technical skills and in the tech industry to build a tool that could have a positive social impact. Sharing what I'm learning publicly is how I learn for myself and learn from others. Ideas don't have to be perfect for them to be seen. Learning publicly helps me with that too. I love being in the tech industry but I want to use my technical skills to make a positive difference. This is a great way for me to do that and an idea I can be proud of.
