Hi #LinkedinFamily It's midweek, nearing the weekend 🫢, but that won't stop me from sharing some notes I picked up last weekend. During the weekend, I attended a virtual mentoring session with Taiwo Oyedele focusing on 'Strategies to Elevate Your Career in 2024 and Beyond.' The session proved to be enlightening. The following are the few highlights 📝 from the session. 1. Learn the act of getting things done: Many individuals face challenges in personal, career, and professional spheres, regardless of age or gender, when it comes to achieving goals. The key to achieving maximum growth in all areas is 'Learning the Act of getting things done' which is known as Effectiveness. During the session, effective methods and tips for ensuring task completion were thoroughly discussed. 2. Enhancing your productivity and excellence: The session, covers also the ways and tips to ensure one achieves outstanding results consistently in high standards. 3. Cultivating creativity and innovation: Constantly re-invent yourself and think outside the box i.e. thinking of practical skills that can solve practical problems. After the session, personal action plans were given for us all to work on. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of pushing past limits This mentorship program is equipping me with the tools to challenge conventional thinking and embrace a mindset of continuous improvement. Transformative Insights So Far: Breaking Barriers – Personal and professional growth requires us to let go of the limiting beliefs we’ve held on to. Through this mentorship, I’m learning to stretch beyond comfort zones and think bigger. Vision and Focus – I’m gaining a clearer vision for my future, learning to channel my energy into what truly matters while letting go of distractions.Community and Collaboration. This journey has shown me the power of community. Growth doesn’t happen in isolation, and collaboration is a key to success. Surrounding myself with like-minded people has accelerated my development.Courage to Evolve. Growth is impossible without change. This program is teaching me the courage to not just accept change but to lead it, evolving into a stronger and more dynamic version of myself. The GEIN project's mentors gathered together 💚in an online workshop at the beginning of June💚 The program covered themes of mentorship from both a theory and a practical point of view. 🌞 The keynote speaker was ENGSO Honorary President Birgitta Gitta Kervinen, a great speaker!👏 Her speech dealt with two very central topics for equality: 1️⃣ importance of good governance in sports and 2️⃣ mentoring as an opportunity to support the personal growth of the leaders in the future. Another presentation focused on principles of mentoring and summarized the most important responsibilities of a mentor 🎉: 1️⃣ Guidance + support: active listening; offer encouragement especially during challenging times; share resources that can help mentees in their development 2️⃣ Be a role model of professional and ethical behavior and work-life balance; emphasize the importance of lifelong learning 3️⃣ Competence development: identify the mentee's strengths and needs for improvement; recommend training opportunities; encourage mentees to gain hands-on experience through projects 4️⃣ Feedback provision: timely feedback; keep balanced approach of positive and constructive feedback 5️⃣ Networking: introduce mentees to key persons; inform about job opportunities and events; encourage mentees to build mentorship networks #GEIN #GenderEquality #FemaleEmpowerment #SportsLeadership
