MTM Tip of the Day
Unfortunately with the beautiful Spring weather (and in some areas, Summer-like weather) comes allergy season.
Here's a great patient teaching video on the proper administration of nose sprays.
Remember: This refers to nose sprays to manage allergic conditions.
NEVER prime (or initially spray the inhaler into the air before use) a naloxone (Narcan(R)) nasal spray. That would result in the complete loss of the dose.

Listen into this crucial conversation on non-patient specific epinephrine auto-injectors in public places with Senator Gounardes, Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal , Bay Ridge High Schooler Lucia Zaremba, Allergy Advocates NY Co-Founder @Jon Terry, Elijah-Alavi Foundation Co-Founder Thomas Silvera, MSHS-PH , CST ( Doctoral Candidate) Silvera, and FARE’s Senior Vice President, Advocacy Jason Linde.
Food allergies can be life-threatening, and rapid access to epinephrine during an allergic reaction is vital. Our goal is to raise awareness about the importance of having non-patient specific epinephrine auto-injectors readily available in public spaces, especially near AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators).
What we know to be true:
The presence of non-patient specific auto-injectors in public places can save lives during critical moments when individuals experience severe allergic reactions. Emphasizing the need for non-patient specific epinephrine auto-injectors ensures that immediate help is available even when the individual experiencing an allergic reaction doesn't have a prescribed epinephrine on hand.
Advocating for the placement of non-specific epinephrine auto-injectors in public places that this life saving medication is accessible in case of emergencies.
We invite you to be a part of this important conversation by watching the video and sharing your thoughts. Let's work together to create a safer environment for everyone, especially those with allergies.

A student having a medical emergency on school or campgrounds ordinarily has to wait for back up staff to arrive in order for one staff member to attend to the child and another to find contact details for parents or guardians. This vital information will be paper based on a system typically laptop/ PC based. Valuable time is wasted in accessing this information.
Solution:
Tap the unique ToGGeL student card or wristband on your mobile device to immediately access medical information, allergies or to request an ambulance. ToGGeL locates the phone that sent the panic request geographically to within 2 meters.

The health of students and their ability to focus in school is closely tied to the quality of the air they breathe. Cleaner indoor air means fewer asthma attacks, reduced absenteeism, and improved academic performance. On July 25, 2024, Congress introduced the *Indoor Air Quality and Healthy Schools Act* (H.R. 9131) to address these concerns, marking a significant step toward improving air quality in schools and child care facilities.
This bill will establish clear standards for indoor air quality, encourage assessments, and provide support to ensure healthier environments for all students—especially those with asthma.
