As a #fedintern, we are invited to many great opportunities, including the Executive Speaker Series. Yesterday, we had the honor of hearing from U.S. Secretary of Education, Dr. Miguel Cardona (U.S. Department of Education). Dr. Cardona spoke on affirmative action, student loan forgiveness, his journey to public service, and more. He shared some career advice with the audience of interns: (1) do not limit yourself to your current goals; (2) everyday is a job interview; and (3) do not change your stripes.

I am thrilled to say I graduated from Seattle University School of Law in May. I have passed the Washington State bar exam with a score eligible to practice in any UBE jurisdiction! I will begin in my new position as an Attorney Advisor in the office of Regional Counsel for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). I am grateful to have the opportunity to start my career in one of my favorite places and return to the EPA! A big thank you to all my friends and family who helped me get here.

The law firm I have the pleasure of interning at is hiring! The position is paid, in-person, and located in West Seattle. They are looking for a student that could start in the next few weeks and work during the summer and potentially be brought on for the upcoming school semester. The ideal candidate would be a rising 2L or rising 3L. They are very understanding of time limitations as a law student, and will work around your class schedule. The firm mostly focuses on Trusts & Estate law, but they also handle cases having to do with business law, LLCs, real estate, personal injury, and litigation in general. The firm would love if you qualify for work study, but it is not a requirement. Interested students can email me, Donna Shahbazi, at intern@llllaw.net. Please attach a resume. Applicants will be interviewed and accepted on a rolling basis.

I had a great weekend in Chicago attending the Climate Change Conference at Loyola University Chicago. The conference focused on strategies for developing equitable, resilient, and sustainable food systems. I also had the privilege of presenting my research at the poster session. Thank you to the Seattle University Center for Environmental Justice and Sustainability for making this possible.
