Excited to join #hackjakarta organized by AngelHack as a judge this weekend! 🚀 In just 24 hours, teams will tackle challenges in financial inclusion, social responsibility, and digital empowerment. Having participated in hackathon before, I'm genuinely curious to see this from a new perspective. What fascinates me about hackathons: - The spark of new ideas under pressure - Unexpected collaborations forming - Scrappy MVPs that hint at big potential To the participants: focus on the problem, embrace the constraints, and don't forget to have fun! Looking forward to learning from your innovations. Any past hackathon experiences or tips to share? Drop them in the comments! I can't wait to see what unfolds 🙌🏽 Learn more about the event here https://lnkd.in/gDMk5Kqa #TheGlobalHackathonSeries #AngelHack #hackglobal #hackjakarta #TechForGood #innovation

Hackathons are not just events - they are powerful engines of innovation. Through our partnership with ayoba and Geekulcha for the Ayoba Business Chat API Hackathon, we are dedicated to solving real-world problems with creative tech solutions. The essence of the #AyobaBusinessChatHack is for teams to create a front-end interface that will integrate with the Business Chat API that enables businesses to send and receive messages using the ayoba app. Here’s why hackathons like this are indispensable: #Accelerate Innovation: They bring together the brightest minds to create solutions rapidly. #Practical Learning: Participants gain hands-on experience with real-world challenges. #Networking Opportunities: Connect with industry leaders, fellow developers, and potential investors. #Talent Discovery: Companies can identify and recruit top talent. #Innovation #Hackathon #TechSolutions

Completed ImpactHack 2023 and MyStartup Hackathon 2023 Hello #connections! I wanted to share my experience participating in two hackathons this year: ImpactHack 2023 by Standard Chartered Bank and Jomhack Malaysia , and MYStartup x PETRONAS Hackathon 2023. It was a rollercoaster of learning, ideation, and innovation, and I couldn't be more thrilled about the outcomes. 🔶 Hands-On #Experience: I actively contributed to pitch deck development and engaged in front-end development. These tested my skills and pushed me to understand user behaviour. 🔶 #Mentorship: I extend my gratitude for an enlightening session, which provided me with a fresh perspective and invaluable guidance. Special thanks: - Daqing Lee from MyStartup Hackathon for the personal session and tips tackling case. - Ferdy Fauzi & Hardesh Singh from ImpactHack. 1️⃣ ImpactHack 2023: During this #hackathon, my team and I developed an application called WeSell, which is designed to empower rural SMEs. WeSell is the ultimate POS app that automates reminders, manages stock orders, and provides real-time insights for efficient and profitable business management. Thanks to the members: Aqila Alya, Suthan Strike, Muhammad Harris Shah Shahrudin & Hamizah Mohd Ariff. 2️⃣ MyStartup Hackathon 2023: In the MyStartup Hackathon, our project, LineUp, was aimed at addressing challenges faced by Petronas. LineUp is a visitor management app that simplifies and enhances the visitor experience for businesses. It offers pre-registration, real-time notifications, #AI assistance, and seamless integration for efficient and secure visitor management. Thanks to the members: Muhammad Harris Shah Shahrudin, Jing Jie Tan, Jhanarthananraja Nagaraja Here are some key takeaways I'd like to share with you all: ✅ Hypothesize and Validate: When solving a #problem statement, create your own hypotheses and outline ways to validate them before diving into solutions. ✅ Think Beyond #Business Requirements: Look at the problem statement holistically and work backward to understand how it fits into the bigger picture. ✅ Effective Communication: Ask the right questions and #communicate effectively with your team and mentors. ✅ Simple Frameworks: Use simple #frameworks to guide your problem-solving process but remain flexible in your approach. Grateful for the experiences and personal growth, can’t wait to see what’s next! #Hackathon #Innovation #ProblemSolving #Teamwork

#HackOMania24 gave me a number of insights about #developers today. Developers are drawn to #GenAI. Generative AI and LLMs are the buzz words today among the young IT crowd and unsurprisingly, almost all of the projects in the top 7 had some form of GenAI element integrated into their project submissions at the #hackathon. Harnessing AI to augment ideas just trumps traditional projects hands down. Hackathons continue to build brand awareness among developers. The honest truth is that, most young developers from universities and polytechnics are only familiar with top tier tech companies & big banks. So its not uncommon that these companies get the cream of the crop when tech #talent start looking for jobs prior to graduation. Many participants at the hackathons actually ask my team about the companies that are sponsoring our event and if they have job openings. Surprising because they could have just hopped onto the website anytime to check them out. Physical engagement / touch points still matter. Developers are not technopreneurs. Not all of them at least. #Innovation challenges and start-up hacks are geared for a very different purpose. These events are not developer centric. GeeksHacking organizes these hackathons for a very targeted segment and will continue to do so. It has served us well and every hack brings about technical solutions. No PowerPoint warriors please! GeeksHacking has been so blessed to have the backing of GovTech Singapore, Ahrefs, DynamicWeb, SP Group, Rakuten Asia Pte Ltd and Google in the organizing of HackOMania 2024. The follow video celebrates another successful hackathon and we look forward to more in the years to come! Enjoy the vibes from the video! https://lnkd.in/g3V2CjcY

𝕀𝕥𝕤 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕪 𝕙𝕒𝕤 𝕓𝕖𝕖𝕟 𝕒 𝕗𝕒𝕟𝕥𝕒𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕔 𝕖𝕩𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕖. I'm excited to share that I participated in my first international hackathon at lablab.ai . Before this, I had no experience with hackathons and didn't even know how to join a team. I didn't know how to find a team on Discord . Joining a team was a big challenge for me. Then I joined lablab.ai Discord and saw messages from people looking for team members, which gave me some ideas. Luckily, I found a team leader P Bola who guided me very well. Interacting with them made me feel like I wasn't participating for the first time. P Bola is a communication magician! He had the ability to explain complex projects clearly and concisely, and could clarify any doubts. For me, communication was a big challenge, as I was meeting international team members for the first time, and I was initially very confused. But after meeting with them, my confidence increased, and my communication skills improved significantly. We also had a great team member Ashwani Jha who was experienced and helped us finalize the project and divide tasks. Ashwani Jha helped us understand the project, and we started working on it. Our mentor Ahmad Jajja guided us throughout the process. We participated in the hackathon based on his advice, which gave us the opportunity to work with people at the international level. Sir Ahmad Jajja also informed us about the iCodeGuru which helped us learn a lot. I'm especially grateful to Zafar Shahid, PhD who provided us with this opportunity. I'm grateful for this incredible experience and the people who made it possible.Share your own experiences or tips in the comments below.Your feedback and engagement mean a lot to me and I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts Muhamad Arhum Muhammad Arham Muhammad Hanzla Abdul Munnam Shahzil Imran AbduL RehmaN . #HackathonExperience #InternationalHackathon #FirstTimeExperience #TeamWork #CommunicationSkills #Mentorship #LearningOpportunity #PersonalGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #CodingCommunity #TechForGood #Innovation #Collaboration #GrowthMindset #smit

Hackathons are underappreciated as mechanisms for product and cultural growth. As a founder, I find them super powerful. Hackathons are now a biannual tradition that our entire team at Sardine looks forward to. After the hackathon, I can feel the palpable energy in the company. In a lot of ways, it's a cleansing of the mind and soul from the day-to-day grind. We’re also remote-first, so we don't have as many opportunities for a water cooler conversation. Hackathons are an amazing way to get folks to have organic conversations and build. We dedicate just 2.5 days and it's incredible what our teams are able to build. And pretty much every project has a working demo. My favorite part about the hackathon is that the entire company participates, not just engineers. Insights 🐟 Operators are great problem solvers: Projects where someone from a non-eng team has a problem they have been itching to find a solution for, and then have the opportunity to collaborate with engineers to build the solution. It's often a problem they have wanted to solve but haven't been able to prioritize, or a new fraud trend we recently heard from our customers which we want to detect. 🐟 Make space for bottoms up: Founders or the product leadership team don't necessarily come up with the entire list of projects that the team should work on - just like any other person pitching an idea, we pitch a few as well and let our team then organically figure out who wants to work on what. 🐟 Get right into the product: This year, we instituted a new award “Founders award” to honor the folks whose last year’s hackathon projects made it into our product. And it was a whopping 50% of projects. 🐟 Be customer led: We also invite our strategic customers to come and participate as judges. Often our judges are highly involved and have suggested a new project idea to us that we then give them a demo of. This year, we had 4 judges: Matt K.V. (3CI, SIP, ECFE, CPFPP) from Novo, Josh Hofer from Stearns bank, @Bryan from Black Hawk Networks and Ilan Zimmer from Coinbase. We appreciate you all for your valuable feedback and for giving our teams the encouragement they need to keep going. Like everyone at Sardine, I can’t wait for the next one! #founder #hackathon #product #engineering

Debunking Myths About the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) I've recently come across some posts claiming that many teams at SIH simply copy projects from GitHub. SIH isn't just about participation; it's about innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. If a project lacks originality or fails to address the problem statement uniquely, it simply won't make it to the finals. The judges are seasoned professionals who can easily spot a copied project from an authentic one. Hackathons like SIH are designed to challenge us to think outside the box, push our limits, and create solutions that can make a difference. It's not about taking the easy route or following the crowd—it's about standing out and proving your mettle. To those who shy away from participating due to misconceptions like this, I'd urge you to reconsider. Hackathons are not about playing it safe; they're about stepping up to the challenge, learning, and growing as a developer and innovator. Let's respect the spirit of hackathons and encourage each other to bring out our best, original work. After all, innovation doesn't come from copying; it comes from daring to be different. #SmartIndiaHackathon #Innovation #Creativity #ProblemSolving #Hackathons #GrowthMindset

I love hackathons! A hackathon was the event that led me to join Kiuub. I started by working at hackathons and taking out the trash. Later, through Kiuub, I helped organize hackathons for major banks. I also participated in hackathons as a contestant, eventually winning some of them. Over time, I began mentoring and, at the latest one, even served as a judge. Take hackathons seriously and participate in them because they're not just for students. At hackathons, you gain networking opportunities, experience, friends, and possibly even a job or a project for your company. Hackathons can truly change your life :) Here's the after movie from the last hackathon in Banská Bystrica. See you at the next one in a month in Bratislava! #hackathon #innovation #startups
