Our mission is to develop and maintain equine facilitated learning programs that teach young women confidence, resiliency, leadership, and strength of character. Our girls develop essential life skills, confidence, employment skills, and emotional regulation skills through groundwork with our horses, horseback riding, working the ranch as Barn Aides, and through our comprehensive mentorship program. 💚CONNECT: Both the founder of GaitWay Inc, Jackie Greer, and the Executive Director, Heather Compton overcame their challenges as troubled teens and are now devoted to making the world a better place. Through mentorship, working with the horses, and working the ranch, Jackie and Heather have developed a comprehensive program to help prevent young girls, teens, and young adults from experiencing what they experienced as young children. We have now served over 40 teens in our program, and plan to expand our impact. 🤠SUPPORT: Our goal is to continue to create programs that teach girls and young women the life skills they need to enter adulthood as strong, capable, confident, self-assured women who can become leaders that pass those traits on to the next generations of girls coming behind them. let's talk about our next big event coming up on Saturday, March 30, 2024! ASGO's 19th Annual Autism Walk & Family Fun Day. We are busy confirming some amazing activities on site for all of you to enjoy!  Here's what are some of the fun activities we have in store for you and your family: 1. 4,000+ Egg Hunt (open to all individuals with autism regardless of age and those 16 and under). 2. Moon bouncers (bounce houses) for all ages 3. Games/prizes 4. Character Meet & Greets with some amazing friends from Star Wars, Super Heroes, Princes/Princesses, Mascots, etc. 5. Dancing/DJ with music and fun 6. Interactions with law enforcement officers from many of our local agencies. 7. Resource fair with over business partners already - looking for supports and services - this is the place for you :) 8. Silent Auction with tons of great prizes to win - hotels, golf, restaurant gift cards, theme park tickets, etc. 9. Concession stand for you to enjoy your favorite breakfast, lunch, and snacks including snow cones, popcorn, candy, etc. :) 10. "Let's Dance!!" Did you hear Kevin Bacon is going back to prom at Payson High School in Utah where Footloose was filmed 40 years ago? So many valuable lessons here: ➡ The students were smart in how they campaigned Kevin Bacon by considering the #WIFM (what's in it for him) and will use the prom as a way to raise funds for his charity, SixDegrees.Org ➡ Kevin certainly has enough other things going on and this didn't need to take priority on his calendar, yet he realized the incredible impact that the film had his career and success and felt he had to #PayItForward as a thank you to the fans by giving them this moment. Just look at the emotion in his eyes in the photo below. ➡ The students got #creative in how they attracted his attention using social media, #BaconToPayson, to highlight their efforts of recreating scenes from the movie, flash mobs of the Footloose dance and doing the theatre version last fall for their school production. They didn't just ask, they proved how badly they wanted to make this happen and attracted positive attention that got people talking. ➡ Keep in mind the students leading the charge on this weren't even born when the movie came out! There is a strong sense of #community around it and its bringing people together to celebrate and carry on a legacy of those that came before them. It's not always about you in the now, but how it carries on the history of what came before you. ➡ 4 decades is a long time, yet, the movie continues to hold it's own. It connects people from various generations with common threads that can generate conversations and help shed a light on different perspectives. You don't always have to be the newest or recreate the wheel to be relevant. As Ren said "See, this is our time to dance. It is our way of celebrating life. It's the way it was in the beginning. It's the way it's always been. It's the way it should be now." And it will be again at Payson High.

READ..LAUGH...WALK...DONATE...REPEAT As many know, I joined the SMILE Mass team last July as the Director of Communications. This has been a job that fulfilled a long-time dream of working with and advocating for families raising children and adults with disabilities to live happy, healthy lives through education, recreation, and vacation opportunities. In the year that I’ve been involved with SMILE Mass, we’ve made great strides, growing the organization, raising funds, and helping more and more families with disabled family members. I feel good about the part I’ve played in this. If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. Those who have come to know me may have witnessed that I’m an overachiever. I dive into things with both feet and I love to raise the bar high. Sometimes I end up neck deep, but most times I land on my feet and experience life to its fullest. It’s a positive trait, I suppose, but as I get older and, unfortunately further from my prime, I occasionally bite off more than I can chew. As the saying goes, it now takes me all night to do, what I used to do all night long. So, when I registered for this year’s Falmouth 7.3-mile road race so I could run side by side with 15 of my SMILE Mass teammates, I assumed that I could lace ‘em up, get in a few months of training by running from one telephone pole to the next, and increase by a pole each day. By race day, I’d be ready to plod the 7.3 miles at a similar speed as I ran it here in 2015…see the tortoise and the hare…slow and steady. Pictured here is really out of shape me, finishing a 5K, fat and winded but still standing. Today, I’ve accepted the fact that I can no longer push the old jalopy to 3 miles, let alone 7.3. My time is now measured by flips of a calendar page and not a stopwatch. Time to hang up the cleats. BUT-as an overachiever, here is my compromise. During the week of 8/11 to 8/17, I will walk 36.5 miles to raise money for SMILE Mass, or 5 times the distance that my in-shape teammates are running and I ask you to support me in my journey. Please make a donation of ANY size to my fundraising page. I’d love you to consider $1 per mile or $36.50 but will graciously accept $1, $5, $10…Any amount will propel me towards my goal of $1500 to help families raising children and adults with disabilities. For those friends who have already donated to SMILE Mass through the purchase of a legacy brick, coffee club sponsorship, or more over the previous months, I thank you and ask you to step to the plate again on my behalf. What is Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day?  Organized sports play a vital role in shaping the lives of kids, and Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day is an opportunity for all Coloradans to help our youth thrive. Led by the Daniels Fund, The Weld Trust, Denver Broncos Foundation, Alpine Bank, Rose Community Foundation, Strohm Link Family Foundation, Anschutz Foundation, Colorado Health Foundation and other sponsors, the giving campaign includes a dollar-for-dollar match of more than $1 million for all online donations made Sept. 4 - Sept. 30,2024. Donations will be matched until matching funds are utilized. Why it Matters:    Youth sports participation is in decline because many families – especially those in low-income communities and communities of color – are unable to afford the cost of participation.   The average age when kids drop out of sports is 11, and younger still for girls and families struggling financially. Youth Sports Giving Day aims to level the playing field by raising money for a variety of nonprofit sports providers statewide and by elevating every kid’s ability to play and have a high-quality (and fun!) sports experience.  All children deserve to enjoy the lifetime benefits of being physically active and playing sports.  https://lnkd.in/enKbBuuN
