Did you know that the employment of workers aged 65 or older has grown by a staggering 117% in just 20 years? And that's not all – recent research shows that many occupations have become more "age-friendly" since 1990, requiring less strenuous work. As retirement plans evolve and older adults remain healthier and more active than ever before, the world of work is changing. Naborforce is leading the way for older adults in the workforce with their latest initiative: the Golden Interns Program. This paid program is specifically designed for active retirees, offering them the opportunity to re-enter the workforce and contribute their invaluable skills and expertise. This year, they welcomed two incredible Golden Interns – one aged 70 and another aged 81. Naborforce is committed to supporting individuals seeking to return to work after a hiatus, whether due to caregiving responsibilities, personal reasons, or retirement. They join a small yet growing list of companies offering mid- and late-career returnship programs, providing a supportive pathway back into the workforce. Congrats to Paige and her team! We’re proud to back such an important mission. Director and Professor, School of Communication and Multimedia Studies at Florida Atlantic University
The Unexpected Leadership Lesson: Supporting Caregivers I thought I was ready for academic leadership after over 20 years working in higher education. I had held leadership roles, done abundant service, and researched communication across personal, professional, and health contexts. Despite my experiences, I wasn't fully prepared for the caregiving and support challenges that arose. In my first few years as a director, I had to support faculty battling terminal illnesses and chronic health issues, as well as those caregiving for ill spouses and parents. We had to navigate the loss of beloved colleagues, and create opportunities for others to balance their own health challenges (or family member's health issues) and their professional responsibilities. Then unexpectedly, I became a caregiver myself when my spouse was diagnosed with cancer and required an organ transplant. As I was packing up after a month living near the transplant hospital and working remotely, an @AARP study on the struggles of working caregivers landed on my breakfast table. It was a poignant reminder of the importance of supporting University employees with caregiving responsibilities through: -Flexible work arrangements -Reminding faculty and staff for their FMLA and leave options -Manager training on accommodations -Employee resource groups I've been blessed to have an amazing Dean that permitted remote work during my spouse's recovery. But too many caregivers lack that support, jeopardizing their employment while fulfilling vital caregiving duties. AND, importantly, it reminds me that chairs and directors don't always receive the training they need to provide not just the "technical" insights on policies and procedures, but also the skills they need to be compassionate, empathic, and flexible. This experience has crystallized my committment to advocating for flexible and supportive policies, and creating cultures and communities that embrace employees as whole human beings - both professionals and caregivers. It's a lesson that will forever impact how I lead. https://lnkd.in/eB_zGht9 #AcademicLeadership #HigherEd #UniversityLife #FacultyLife #WorkingCaregivers #CaregiverSupport #aarp #organdonation

I am totally in support of raising the profile of careers in early education. How often have you been asked: "What do you do for work?" and upon answering, "I work with children in a nursery", you get the response "Awh, that must be so rewarding." Look, it is rewarding, but that barely scratches the surface. A whole perspective shift is needed. It's a dynamic career path. Underrated Human Skills >>> The interpersonal skills honed in a nursery setting are invaluable. Collaboration, communication, people management, and fostering a positive work culture are just the start. These are skills highly sought after in the wider business world. Being an Extraordinary Generalist >>> A career in early years doesn't box you in; it broadens your opportunities. You'll find yourself mastering everything from engaging prospective parents and executing marketing strategies to managing finances, occupancy rates, HR, and operations. It’s a holistic business education. Creativity in Action >>> Ever marvelled at the creativity on display in a nursery, like a tree crafted from wooden spoons? That's the work of incredibly talented educators. They're not just 'playing with children'; they're creating environments that are educational, safe, and visually appealing. I could go on and on. There are so many transferable skills developed in early education and we welcome positive talent, that want to make a difference but also want to grow professionally and personally. It's an epic career choice. I welcome the recruitment campaign and am eager to see it in action. The £1K incentive should not be at the forefront. What are your thoughts? Award Winning Senior Recruitment Consultant (EYFS) | 07454232434 | Education Sector | Early Years Specialist |
🔥 Unpopular opinion? 🔥 ➡ Let's talk about the elephant in the room: the Early Years sector is getting a poor deal from the recruitment industry, and it's time we address it head-on. 💥 ➡ Recently I've been chatting with nursery owners, CEOs, and top-tier managers, and guess what? They're all singing the same tune. 🎶 The sector is drowning in underfunding and understaffing, yet recruitment agencies have no qualms about slapping on outrageous fees. ➡ It really is heartbreaking, especially for those independent settings where every single penny counts. 💔 I get it – we're all here to do a job and we all have targets to meet right? 💰 Yet, from where I'm standing as a recruiter, I can't help but feel we could do better. We need to do better. 👊 💰 Fee transparency is crucial, no doubt. As a recruiter, I'm all for it. However, let's not overlook the value we bring to the table. Sometimes, clients forget the sheer time and effort it takes to excel in our line of work. We're not just plugging numbers; we're crafting solutions meticulously, ensuring the best outcomes. So yes, transparency is key, but let's also recognize the expertise and dedication we bring to the table. 📣 If you're a nursery in need of staffing support, don't hesitate to contact me using the details below. I'm committed to fostering long-term partnerships, not just quick transactions. My focus is on building sustainable relationships and making a positive impact in the sector, rather than adding to its challenges. #Protocol #eyfsrecruitment #earlyyears #nursery #earlyyears #learningthroughplay #eyfs #preschool #earlychildhoodeducation #earlylearning #playbasedlearning #earlyyearseducation #education #childcare #earlychildhood

3 most important things I learned from Maternity leave that I am applying to my work 👷♀️ 📌 Don't be afraid to ask for help I can't excel in every aspect of my work, so looking for help when needed is perfectly fine. 📌 Embrace Change Expect changes when you come back from maternity leave. A lot can happen in a year. Stay open-minded and adapt to any shifts in the organization. 📌 Patience and resilience is the key One thing that motherhood teaches everybody is patience. Give yourself time to bounce back at work. I feel I am better at most things than I was. I'm more productive. I have better skills in time management, multi-tasking, assertiveness, and getting stuff done. What are the things you learned from parenthood 👨👩👧 ? #motherhood #parenthood #engineering #sredevops #informationtechnology

When it's time for organizations to renew their B Corp Certification, 63% increased their impact score. So we're in good company. If you ask us about B Corp, we'll tell you how proud of our recent accomplishments like: ✅ Being invited and attending BLab's racial impact improvement pilot ✅ Increasing our paid parental leave for both parents But we'll get even more excited when we tell you what we are working on to keep progressing—even after we get re-certified. For example, Amanda Breen is championing new ways to improve the percentage of dollars spent with diverse or local vendors. Supporting our local community of businesses and vendors is so important to us, and the investment always pays off. We always look for new ways to grow our impact. #BCorpMonth #BCorp

Caring entrepreneur&Founder of Nordic Blueberries Ltd and Global Childcare Innovation Hub | Specialising in infant-toddler group care
I am spending a day going through all the CVs I have received in last 48 hours for our currently open job positions in London, UK. And one thing so far got so clear to me - there are so many devoted, experienced, motivated, educated professionals within childcare industry. Imagine how many kids they impacted and helped to shape into grownups they wanted to be. Yet, least appreciated profession of today’s society. And everyone reading just a little bit about care economy knows this will have to change. What is so far only an initiative I formed, I am putting it in action little by little each day - the Global Chilcare Innovation Hub. A place where I want to gather everyone understanding the importance of childcare for all of us, no matter where and who we are. Global because childcare knows no geographical barriers. Innovation because childcare is one of the least innovative sectors and at the same time I want to attract to this project all of those I mentioned in the beginning of this post. They should plan the future of childcare.

Making parental leave fair for everyone is really important for giving everyone a fair chance. Did you know that women often spend three extra hours each day doing unpaid care work compared to men? This makes it harder for them to work when they have young children. But, if both parents can take paid time off when a baby is born or adopted, it can really help make things more equal. We've known about this issue for a while, and it's clear that we need to make some big changes to make sure everyone has a fair shot at work and home life. Let's work together to make parental leave fair for everyone! #Fairness #ParentalLeave #GenderEquality 🌟 📹: @reshmasaujani [instagram]
