Japan, Canada, and Korea are currently home to the largest nuclear power reactors in the world. However, the rise of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) could have a significant impact on the global energy mix in the coming years. SMRs are smaller and more flexible than traditional reactors, making them easier to deploy in a wider range of locations. #SMRs #CleanEnergy #GlobalEnergyMix

Following from great discussions, Landmark Statements and Declarations made and delivered at COP28 ushering a significant turning point for nuclear power, I would like to propose to the joint organizers of the Summit Belgium's Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi that this inaugural Nuclear Energy Summit gathering key world leaders will progress towards turning talk at COp28 into action and strategic action Plans at the Summit. Adopting all the Declarations would be important formalize its acceptance. However in addition to the adoption, it is critical for this Summit to serve as an action oriented platform to support the delivery of key outputs, outcomes and impact COP28 was key platform for global recognition of nuclear power's key role to contribute to net zero goals. Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels must serve as platform to undertake tactical review of current nuclear status and the target of tripling nuclear capacity by 2050. developing a strategy and roadmap listing the required A, Number of nuclear reactors of various capacities 1000 MW and more , future SMRs (?) needed to increase the nuclear capacities to target capacity B. Investments and Costs required C.Financial Investors, the sources of financing, the possible, potential and new investors D. Nuclear Power Plant facilities and equipments needed- List current suppliers and identify gaps- strategise to guide nurture more suppliers to ensure provide sufficient supplies E. Forecast the human resources needed - determine current and future numbers of professionals, craftsmen etc need..the gaps F Identify present nuclear education and training institutions available and how many new ones required to support additional manpower G Other factor as deemed critical to attain the desired tripling of nuclear capacity Prior to attending the summit , invite country leaders attending this Summit to provide details of the above from their countries ( their current and future plans ) and present these at the Summit to gather these statistics to develop a roadmap with important timeframe from 2024 to 2050 Check out the gaps and discuss at this Summit which leaders and countries would support to collectively narrow or close some of these gaps.
