The company shared an update this morning, and I wanted to do the same: When Boisson entered restructuring, a very legal process was set in motion, so statements and updates were difficult. While my normal instinct is to over communicate, the realities of that process meant I didn’t have a clear update to provide, which is why I’ve chosen not to comment or speculate. There is now a path forward that allows Boisson a second chance, that I am excited to update you all about in real-time: As of Friday, Boisson has entered into a formal agreement and obtained initial approval from the court to join forces with a new financial partner with decades of experience in the beverage logistics and supply chain industries respectively who will add tremendous insight and counsel as we embark on this new and exciting chapter of the business. As part of that agreement, the team has asked me to rejoin as Chief Brand Officer, which I accepted and am am formally resuming today. My new role will be mainly focused on the important process of overseeing payments to suppliers, continuing to help former employees who have been affected by this restructuring, rebuilding relationships across the board and working to plot our path forward in a sustainable and responsible way. The NA community is owed transparency as to what happened, what’s next and what this means for our business, as well as the wider industry. I also recognize that some suppliers may not want to work with us again, and that’s the reality that we will have to face. Some people may also think this process is still not as transparent as it could be, which I also understand. I started Boisson because I wanted to evolve the way the world drinks and I still have tremendous conviction in this vision – I look forward to re-engaging with many of you who are willing to do so, as I have now had some time to reflect on the experience as I help plot a better future for the business with the second chance being afforded. The "Friday" reflection on partnerships: there are so many creative ways to use partnerships which is why I love working in this area. Examples include: a Corporate and its supplier realising that the solution they have developed for internal use could be interesting for competitors all over the world and testing the idea to monetize it through a JV vehicle or an innovative start up lacking scale and funds and struggling division of another Corporate thinking of putting complementary skills in a JV to develop a better product in a competitive industry. Giant Eagle sells GetGo to Couche-Tard - Pittsburgh Business Times Giant Eagle announced Monday it would sell off its GetGo convenience store business to Couche-Tard, the owner of Circle K and tens of thousands of retailing locations in the United States and around the world. Financial terms of the deal between the two private companies weren't disclosed. Alimentation Couche-Tard will take over from Giant Eagle the nearly 300 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland and Indiana. Giant Eagle began a convenience store and gasoline business in 1995 and had acquired Cross Roads, another gasoline and convenience store chain, from Gutman Oil in 2003. Couche-Tard (OTCMKTS: ANCTF) is based in Laval, Quebec, near Montreal. It owns Circle K, Statoil Fuel & Retail and on Monday acknowledged it made a bid for 7-Eleven. In a statement, Giant Eagle said it believed Couche-Tard would be the right business for GetGo, given its convenience store and gasoline footprint. "For Giant Eagle, this transition enables us to focus greater resources to enhance and grow our core supermarket and pharmacy businesses," according to a statement from Giant Eagle. "The sale will strengthen Giant Eagle, better enabling us to prioritize investments and resources, further bolstering our position as a leading regional grocer and pharmacy with a well-known brand that delivers value for customers and team members." It said Couche-Tard would continue to employ the GetGo team members and retain the stores. The transaction will close in 2025, according to the company. The divestiture is the biggest move so far by new CEO Bill Artman, who took over in 2023.
