The devastating Los Angeles fires have claimed the lives of 24 individuals with over 16 others still reported missing. Entire communities have been uprooted & countless families have lost everything. My heart goes out to all those affected & to the brave first responders who continue to risk their lives, fighting tirelessly to contain what has become one of the most destructive wildfires in California's history.
Disasters like this can often evoke feelings of helplessness. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed or uncertain about how to help. But even small acts of kindness can create a meaningful impact. If you’re looking for ways to support those affected, here are some ideas:
*Monetary Donations*
American Red Cross: Provides shelter, food, water, health services, & emotional support to wildfire victims. Text "REDCROSS" to 90999.
Fire Family Foundation: Supports firefighters and their families during times of crisis.
Los Angeles Regional Food Bank: Accepting monetary & in-kind donations to support affected families. Check their website for up-to-date needs or to volunteer.
California Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund: Focused on assisting marginalized communities hardest hit by the fires.
California Fire Foundation: Providing financial and emotional support to firefighters and their families.
Pasadena Humane: Supporting displaced animals and encouraging fostering during this crisis.
*Donating Items*
If you’re in or near Los Angeles, consider donating essential items to these organizations:
Westside Food Bank: Seeking granola bars, cereal, ready-to-eat meals, hygiene items, and baby supplies like diapers and wipes. Financial donations are also welcome.
The Salvation Army: Accepting a wide range of supplies, including:
First aid kits
Bottled water
Hygiene products (soap, disinfectants, hand sanitizer)
Infant care items (formula, diapers, rash cream)
Blankets, pillows, underwear, and socks
Non-perishable food and snacks
Work tools and protective equipment
*Support Individual Campaigns*
GoFundMe has created a verified hub to support families and individuals directly impacted by the fires. If donating isn’t an option for you, sharing these campaigns is just as powerful and helps amplify their reach.

*Advocacy and Awareness*
If you’re unable to contribute financially, you can still help by advocating for better support for firefighters. Call your senators and urge them to support a permanent pay fix for wildland firefighters in the disaster supplemental bill.
Organizations like Grassroots Wildland Firefighters are leading the charge in advocating for their well-being—your voice can add to this important fight.
In times like these, unity is our greatest strength. Whether through donations, advocacy, or simply raising awareness through sharing, your efforts matter.
Our hearts are with you, LA. ❤️🩹
