Official Opening Day: Smooth Point Pier Extension, Killybegs We are thrilled to have attended the official opening of the Smooth Point Pier Extension at Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre, inaugurated by Minister Charlie McConalogue.T.D. Doran Consulting is proud to have played a key role as Project Manager, Designer, PSDP, and Site Supervisor for this 120-metre-long quay development, which adds 125 metres of new landing berthage, bringing the total to 275 metres. This vital infrastructure will help alleviate vessel congestion during peak fishing season, provide year-round sheltered berthage for larger vessels, and improve operational efficiency. VESSEL REVIEW: Framherji, a Faroe Islands-based, family-owned fishing company, recently took delivery of a new combination purse seiner and trawler built by Karstensens Skibsværft of Denmark. The 87.8-metre (288-foot) long 'Høgaberg' replaces an earlier vessel of the same name. The vessel design, specifications, and arrangements are the result of an extensive and close cooperation between the owner and the yard where all solutions are optimised and tailor made to suit the owner’s and crew’s specific requirements. The design and construction focused mainly on optimising working, safety and comfort for the crew, streamlining of catch handling and storage facilities, and minimising fuel consumption. Great News! We’ve completed the design of the planned universal access fishing platform on the new northern breakwater at Casuarina Boat Harbour. 👏🥳 This state-of-the-art facility will set a new benchmark for fishing infrastructure in WA. The platform, measuring approximately 25 metres in length and will include 10 wheelchair bays, seating, sun and wind shelters and lighting for evening fishing. 💦 The $4 million project is part of the current stage of Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront which represents a $78.1 million investment.
