🎉 The Generalitat Valenciana has funded the #Evolve project. 👨🔬 Principal Investigator 👉 Nirvan Makoond 🎯 The overall aim of 𝙀𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚 is to develop a performance-assessment framework to identify when more connectivity and continuity can increase the risk of disproportionate collapse in reinforced concrete structures. This is 1 of 7 projects funded in this call in the area of Industrial production, civil engineering and engineering for society.

I enjoy learning about their parks projects, for which they have 350 National Parks projects in their portfolio. --- You've probably noticed the critical role that civil engineering plays in sustaining and enhancing our National Parks, an effort that HECO Engineers leads with distinction. With over 350 projects, they've significantly contributed to preserving these national treasures. Their team's dedication shines through, especially in feedback from the National Park Service: "They did a very good job overall… I'm really impressed at how well they completed the design in a very short time, and they met all of our requirements." It's heartening to see such commitment to the environment and the communities served, demonstrating the blend of expertise and passion necessary for these monumental tasks. Even more exciting is witnessing HECO Engineers letting loose and enjoying the camaraderie at the Eastern Oregon AWWA Conference in Ontario, Oregon. Excited to share that the two papers presented at the 2023 Canadian Society for Civil Engineering / La Société canadienne de génie civil annual conference have been published 🎉 The first, co-authored with Fam Saeed, S.M.ASCE and Tarek Hegazy is a review of how the travelling salesman problem (TSP) optimization technique is being used in the construction industry. https://lnkd.in/g6uaH6ww The second highlights the interdisciplinary work between our group in civil engineering and the school of public health. We try to develop construction schedules that take into account workers’ health metrics. The Balonne Shire Council has entrusted Proterra Group with designing a new carpark at Klinge Lane and other associated works. The project will boost vehicle and pedestrian connectivity, delivering safer and more efficient access through the area. Our team, led by Technical Officer Brett Vella and Civil Engineer Lachlan O'Dempsey, with support from Engineering Manager Michael Shellshear and HARO Civil Engineering, is ready to tackle this $52k project. With a keen interest in improving road safety, I am conducting research on 'Drivers' Perception of the Effect of Lane Marking on Lane Discipline in the Greater Tamale Area'. This study aims to uncover the impact of lane marking on driver behavior and identify opportunities to enhance road infrastructure in Tamale.
