🌆✨ What Happens When Cities MOVE Corporate Headquarters ✨🌆
Thank you Patrick Sisson for sharing this Bloomberg article with us.
Deeply passionate about crafting vibrant, people-first communities, I see the movement of corporate headquarters impacts cities and neighborhoods in profound ways, offering both opportunities and challenges for urban planners and developers.
📍Corporate Relocations Shape Local Economies -
⬆️ = economic jolt to the area—more jobs, more tax revenue, and higher demand for housing and amenities
📍 Companies Look for Access to Talent and Transportation
⬆️ = strong workforce and excellent travel connectivity.
📍 Branding Cities as Destinations
⬆️ Cities hosting major companies gain global recognition, but they risk becoming too reliant on a single industry or identity. Communities thrive when they have diverse, multi-dimensional economies. I recall being on a ULI call for Florida in May 2020 when they discussed tourism and their concerns. (I think they bounced back ok!)
📍 Community-Centric Design is Key
🌟Employees moving to these areas expect walkable neighborhoods, cultural amenities, and a strong sense of place. This underscores the importance of placemaking in master-planned communities: every space we design should prioritize people and connection, creating environments where employees, residents, and businesses can all thrive.
What’s your experience with corporate relocations?

In a recent survey of corporate real estate executives, almost 60% said they are considering a relocation. A ton of different factors can go into consideration of where to relocate such as tax breaks, housing costs even local restaurants and culture.
How open would you be to moving if your company relocated out of state? What are the places you would be most excited to go to?

It's worth noting that West Midtown's "eatertainment" district is booming while Midtown Proper's industry concentration north of 10th Street is 87% Professional & Business Services tenants.

Notting Hill has long been a symbol of bohemian charm and is increasingly popular with one of my favourite groups of expats - Americans. 🌍 💙
From the vibrant markets at Portobello Road to the coloured houses and eclectic cafes, Notting Hill offers an unmatched blend of old-world charm and modern luxury. For many Americans, the allure of this London neighborhood is undeniable.
So, why are Americans choosing Notting Hill?
1. Cultural Magnet: With its rich arts scene, diverse restaurants, and proximity to cultural hubs like the West End, Notting Hill feels like a microcosm of London itself—perfect for those craving a blend of the familiar and the exotic.
2. The Lifestyle: From the quirky shops to the historic architecture, Notting Hill offers a lifestyle that is both laid-back and sophisticated. It's an area where international professionals can thrive while feeling a sense of community.
3. Proximity to Work & Play: As more companies embrace hybrid and remote working models, Americans are realizing they can balance a global career with a European base. With easy access to Central London and Heathrow, Notting Hill provides the perfect intersection of work and leisure.
4. International Networking Opportunities: As London's diverse, multinational hub, Notting Hill attracts a dynamic mix of entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals from around the globe. It's a neighborhood where you can grow both personally and professionally.
5. The British-American Connection: Notting Hill's iconic status, popularized by the 1999 film, has a special place in the hearts of many Americans. It’s the perfect blend of British culture and that “home-away-from-home” feeling.
For those of us making the move or considering it—Notting Hill isn’t just a place to live. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a chance to embrace a new chapter, connect with global professionals, and immerse yourself in one of the most vibrant areas of London.
What’s your favourite part of Notting Hill?
