Deeply passionate about crafting vibrant, people-first communities, I see the movement of corporate headquarters impacts cities and neighborhoods in profound ways, offering both opportunities and challenges for urban planners and developers. 📍Corporate Relocations Shape Local Economies - ⬆️ = economic jolt to the area—more jobs, more tax revenue, and higher demand for housing and amenities 📍 Companies Look for Access to Talent and Transportation ⬆️ = strong workforce and excellent travel connectivity. 📍 Branding Cities as Destinations ⬆️ Cities hosting major companies gain global recognition, but they risk becoming too reliant on a single industry or identity. Communities thrive when they have diverse, multi-dimensional economies. I recall being on a ULI call for Florida in May 2020 when they discussed tourism and their concerns. (I think they bounced back ok!) 📍 Community-Centric Design is Key 🌟Employees moving to these areas expect walkable neighborhoods, cultural amenities, and a strong sense of place. This underscores the importance of placemaking in master-planned communities: every space we design should prioritize people and connection, creating environments where employees, residents, and businesses can all thrive. Waterman Workspaces is embarking on an exciting new phase of growth in the coming year with the announcement of four new workspaces set to open in the first half of 2025. These new centres will bring Waterman's unique offering to four new locations in South Yarra, Merrifield, Blackburn North and Mont Albert.
