I help organizations turn bold ideas into measurable results through strategic thinking, digital innovation and transformative leadership. | Driving Strategy | Business Growth | Digital Transformation

#ThoughtfulTuesdays My thoughts this week is: FOCUS In one of the communities I belong to, during introductions we were asked to state our superpower? I thought hard about it and responded with 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴. In fact, some people call me a Superwoman because of this and I used to be so pumped about it. But, in recent times, we've been advised to avoid multitasking if we truly want to be productive. Why though? I'm great at multitasking; I get so much more done within a shorter time; I know how to work with others to achieve different goals at the same time; I am the Queen of Multitasking; it's working well for me (so I thought). It's a dilemma, really. So, it bothered me and got me thinking 🤔 In a fast-paced world, why should we focus on one thing per time? Do we have the luxury of time to do that? Why can't we be a master of many? The truth is that, staying focused can truly improve decision-making, problem-solving, reasoning, learning and thinking skills. In the long run, you actually save time being focused on one thing, doing it well. Honestly, it's still a struggle for me, but I'm working on it only because I've seen areas where I'm lagging behind. You too can train your mind to stay focused. How? Practice these things; 📌 Know your prime/peak periods in a day, get things done then. 📌 Deliberately eliminate distractions e.g. turn off message notifications on phone, set boundaries (cut off unnecessary chats), etc. 📌 Set stiffer timeliness for your goals. 📌 Use the 20-minute rule i.e. fully focus on one task for 20 mins straight before moving to another. 📌 Take short breaks at intervals Generally, learn to 𝗙ollow 𝗢ne 𝗖hallenge 𝗨ntil 𝗦uccess is achieved. The gains are enormous, trust me. Like and share to help someone who's struggling with this too. #thoughtfultuesdays #focus #realstrength

It just feels like one cannot help but multitask. Is this your experience? How do you focus, in your everyday living?

Multitasking vs Multifocus... what are your thoughts? Can the brain multifocus?
