Public access trauma kits are essential tools designed to provide immediate assistance in medical emergencies. These kits typically contain life-saving equipment such as tourniquets, bleeding control dressings, and basic first aid supplies. The presence of these kits can make a significant difference in critical situations, often bridging the gap between the onset of a medical emergency and the arrival of professional medical assistance. **Benefits of Public Access Trauma Kits:** 1. Immediate Response: In emergency situations, every second counts. Public access trauma kits enable bystanders to take immediate action, potentially saving lives. 2. Increased Survival Rates: Quick access to trauma supplies can lead to better outcomes for individuals experiencing severe injuries, particularly in cases of traumatic bleeding. 3. Community Preparedness: Installing these kits in public spaces fosters a culture of preparedness and encourages community members to be proactive about emergency response in anticipation of Martyn’s Law compliance. 4. Education and Training: Alongside the installation of trauma kits, educational programs can be implemented to train community members on how to effectively use the kits. At Ark Medical Solutions, we specialise in the establishment, management, and maintenance of public access trauma kits and AED’s. Our approach includes: - Assessment and Planning: We conduct thorough assessments to determine the most strategic locations for the placement of trauma kits, ensuring optimal accessibility. - Ongoing Management: We can provide regular checks and maintenance of the kits to ensure they are always stocked, functional, and compliant with safety regulations with our subscription service. - Training Programs: We offer training sessions for community members and local organisations to educate them on the use of trauma kits and general first aid. We believe that by implementing public access trauma kits throughout Dorset, we can significantly enhance community safety and preparedness the kit and design consistency. #stopthebleed #dorset #bournemouth #firstaidcoursesdorset

New JEN article alert. In the May 2024 issues, O'Donnell and colleagues share how they developed and implemented a new pediatric emergency nursing behavioral health assessment tool. This quality-improvement project used the plan, do, study, act model to design/refine the Emergency Behavioral Health Acuity Assessment Tool and a non-experimental descriptive design to assess outcomes. As a first aid trainer I’m highlighting a critical issue read in this blog: Women are less likely to receive defibrillation during cardiac emergencies than men. This disparity isn’t just alarming—it’s a matter of life and death. Defibrillation is a key link in the chain of survival, and its timely use can dramatically improve survival rates from cardiac arrest. Regardless of gender, everyone deserves equal access to these lifesaving measures. We need to boost awareness and education about the importance of defibrillation for all. Together, we can ensure that life-saving defibrillation is available to everyone who needs it.

If you have a child, know a child, love a child...pay attention! EIRMC is the first (and only!) hospital in Idaho to earn the "Expert" designation for Pediatric Care Readiness, the highest level from the state of Idaho Emergency Medical Services for Children Program (Idaho EMSC). This speaks volume about the quality of pediatric care in our ER. Here's a rundown on why we earned this amazing designation: - EIRMC has a pediatric ER just for kids and their families. - We have pediatric- sized equipment for children of all ages. - We have a Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) involved in care for kiddos. - ER nurses are trained in pediatric advanced life support, emergency nursing pediatric course (that's not standard in most ERs, by the way!). Where you go matters. It's important that children been treated in an ER with the most capability to care for them. #TakeMeToEIRMC See Less
