Asia’s potential to attract new businesses is vast due to a number of factors. These include proactive regulators that seek to develop fair and favourable frameworks that support fintech development, as well as massive market size. Carrying on my Baltic fintech journey this week, where we land in Estonia 🛬 Estonia is currently shining as one of fintech's brightest stars, with the perfect grounds for innovation following the vision of e-Estonia and collaboration between government, financial services and telcos. 99% of all transactions are cashless, there's a simple flat rate tax system where returns are submitted digitally, and kids are taught app programming in school 🧑💻 193 fintechs are registered in Estonia, with 10 successful unicorns, dobbing fintech as perhaps their most successful sector 🦄 Wise is the most prominent fintech from Estonia, who have just secured Revolut's head of fin crime to join as compliance lead. Montonio have recently been selected as Inbank's preferred supplier of BNPL services in Estonia. This success is built off the back of an €11m Series A funding round in April 2022. Wallester offers an all-in-one card issuing, processing and payment transaction service, with white label capability. Integrate with Apple Pay and Google Pay for increased reach, and manage through user friendly API. In 2022 they processed 10% of Estonia's payments, totaling €674m. This year’s Olympic hosts have made the TOP 10 most attractive European locations for #Fintech. In European Fintech Index (EFI), #France ranked 🔼 8th in both business and market attractiveness, but its lower score in Fintech attractiveness brought its overall ranking 🔽 to 10th. In the #EFI, Fintech attractiveness measures how favorable a country’s market conditions are for establishing a Fintech type of business. It encompasses metrics like Fintech-related regulation, Fintech funding per capita, share of workforce in Fintech, and the number of Fintech licenses. EFI offers a large collection of open data on the Fintech industry in #Europe.
