How do you treat your Housekeeper at Home? Housekeepers are essential workers who provide valuable services to many households. They deserve respect, dignity, and fair compensation for their work. However, not everyone treats their housekeepers well. Some people exploit, abuse, or neglect their housekeepers, violating their human rights and dignity. How we treat our housekeepers reflects our values and ethics. It also affects our relationships with them and the quality of their work. Therefore, it is important to treat our housekeepers with kindness, gratitude, and professionalism. Here are some tips on how to do that: - Pay your housekeeper a fair and competitive wage. Consider the cost of living, the market rate, and the skills and experience of your housekeeper. Pay them on time and in full. Avoid withholding or deducting their pay for unreasonable reasons. - Respect your housekeeper's privacy and boundaries. Do not invade their personal space or belongings. Do not ask them inappropriate or personal questions. Do not make unwanted or offensive comments or gestures. Do not touch them without their consent. - Respect your housekeeper's dignity and autonomy. Treat them as a human being, because that's who they are! not a machine or a servant. Recognize their skills and talents. Appreciate their efforts and contributions. Praise them for their good work. Give them constructive feedback and suggestions. Listen to their opinions and concerns. Involve them in decision-making and problem-solving. Empower them to grow and learn. - Be kind and friendly to your housekeeper. Greet them with a smile and a hello. Use their name and preferred pronouns. Show interest and care for their well-being. Ask them how they are doing and how their day was. Share stories and experiences. Laugh and joke with them. Be supportive and compassionate. Be honest and trustworthy. Be polite and courteous. Say please and thank you. By treating our housekeepers well, we can build a positive and productive relationship with them. We can also create a happy and healthy environment for ourselves and our families. We can also contribute to a more just and humane society. At www.nyumban.com we are cultivating a culture that treats housekeepers like the human beings they're! Join us to build a world that spreads love 💕
