We are talking today about how ability to sketch the medium, helps with transforming the medium today. And all the other cross skills we should look for in productions. Filmmakers, game development, television, marketing, journalism… and their crews/staffs should never underestimate their ancillary skills as we move forward in dimensioning/designing the narrative and media off the flat square.

The GOAT of news gathering! With all the modern technology available today all Charlie Bragale needs is a phone and his contacts. He’s persistent yet charming. As a reporter I can attest that when he sends you on a story you’d better be ready to go live when you arrive…and lead the next newscast. #news #newsroom #newsmedia #nbc
Before the anchor, producer or reporter deal with breaking news, it’s often the assignment editor who first works on the story. There is still time to apply for the Step up to HOD (Head of Department) Skills Accelerator training course! We really want to hear from you if you’ve been working in TV and Film for over 5 years and are wanting to take that next career step. This is a FREE course developed to empower future department heads in TV and Film by giving them the opportunity in your local area. We are looking for industry professionals working in craft, technical, editorial or production roles across scripted (Film, HETV or continuing drama) or unscripted, who are looking to step up and lead their teams. Please can all of our Film and TV networks within the region kindly #share this opportunity with your wider networks. We don’t want this opportunity to be missed by anyone who would benefit from applying for the Step up to HOD course. We aim to work together with our training partner for this course, Mission Accomplished and our funders to address the skills shortages in the screen sector and to make the sector more accessible and representative, so we would strongly encourage applications from underrepresented talent from across the region. As someone who started reporting on Dirty Water Media / NESN's Dirty Water TV with no prior experience, it was a little daunting showing up on my first day of filming! Looking back, there’s so much I’ve learned throughout my process of starting as an on camera reporter and host. Let’s be honest though, if you have the itch to do it, that’s the first step to success. There can be so many things going on showing up to a shoot, like noise, crowds, and drunk people asking you what you’re filming for. So being relaxed is super important when getting my head in the game. Some key steps I remember when going into a shoot include… 🎤Doing any prior research or script reading before showing up! Sometimes this isn’t always an option but does help. 🎤Wear something that makes you feel comfortable, professional, and confident! 🎤LISTEN to the other person. It’s always nice to have questions in your head for what you might ask next, but most of the time that comes with working off of the person you’re speaking to. 🎤Ask all of the questions prior, it’s never dumb to clarify something. 🎤When in doubt, smile, take a breath, and keep going! This allows you to chill out and get your head where it needs to be. What helps you when you’re about to get in front of people? Maybe a camera, or do something out of your comfort zone? Comment below and let’s start the conversation! 👇🏼 #sidelinereporter #nesn #nesnreporter #bostonreporter #bostonhost

I enjoy each of my roles because it requires being present. Being present as a reporter fosters storytelling. It means one is fluid and open to where the story takes you. It means having situational awareness. One variable change can alter the way one tells a story. Other times, having conversations with the interviewee takes the story in a completely different direction. Being present as a producer is a portion of the way a show comes alive. I may have a show stacked a certain way but if my guest/co-anchor and I are having a moment I want it to breathe. Being present as an anchor is essential. Once that on-air sign is lit it is go-time. And all one should do is interact & address in real-time segments, conversations & anything the control room displays in videos or graphics. Being present is part of the magic. Some of that magic is in this #BoldenBlitz: Jan. 29 - Feb. 2 #MiniDemoReel #Reporter #Anchor #Producer #Host #Broadcaster
