Hiring a communications professional is a good call for your district and here's why: The work of school communications has to be done. It’s nonnegotiable. Just think what would happen if your district suddenly went dark on social media, stopped sending out any updates, and quit responding to incoming messages from families or the media. Your community’s trust in your schools would implode overnight. Whatever your district’s financial situation, you have to keep communicating; the question is on whose shoulders that massive responsibility will fall. Read more at: https://lnkd.in/gpwa7Z_6

PR IS NOT A SCAM --- Thank you for the tag Keyaira N. Boone. I'm classically trained in Strategic Communication. Started my career at Rutgers University School of Communication and Information and then transitioned into being a Public Information Officer in Government before I became a consultant. I share that to say - Working for legacy institutions and the government is much different than working with small business and people who are up and coming. IME Legacy is most concerned with reputation management, internal #comms, public/government affairs, and sharing meaningful stories as they arise. Small business and up and coming are more focused on exposure, sales, credibility, and new business development - that mindset combined with the high expense and ebbs and flows of the news cycle can create a lack of patience that is counter to the nature of #publicrelations / #communications which is long term and multifaceted. As a result, those who are new to the industry may be solely focused on media relations and frustrated when those hits are few and far between or do not generate sales. That is why my current agency Maple & Monroe: Global Social Impact Think & Do Tank primarily works with legacy #nonprofits, #fortune500 corporations, and #government - the scope is more realistic and the value is higher. These are just my thoughts - happy to hear other views.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph thanked her publicist in her Oscars acceptance speech. On January 10th I argued that PR is NOT a scam on my Substack. 👇🏾 Everyday I work with publicists to facilitate conversations. They may not be able to guarantee coverage every time but they are an integral part of the storytelling process. The flow of information works both ways and they advocate for clients in many ways that don't result in that screenshot for social you're so pressed about. Public Relations is a valuable part of any project and you are doing yourself a disservice by not taking the time to understand it. Tag a publicist who "gets it" below. 📸 The PR Girl Manifesto #publicrelations #storytelling #writersoflinkedin https://lnkd.in/dTvU5wHu

Help small biz owners double revenue in 6-12 months by mastering strategy and direction, upgrading communication skills, and removing emotional blocks | 18-year Business Coach, Emotion & Energy Healing Master
THIS RIGHT HERE, this advice applies to so many areas of business growth and leadership in addition to PR! It reminds me of my client Greg, who was working 80 hours a week but wanted to work only 2 hours. 🤔 Why was he, and so many other small business leaders, working late nights and weekends? Honestly, there are too many reasons to mention. Most come down to fear of what would happen if he didn't work those hours and lack of proper systems. But here's the thing: If you want to stop working nights and weekends in your small business, you need to set that example to your team, your vendors and your partners. Then they need to stop working nights and weekends. Because: 📣 Leadership is about service. 📣 Leadership is about modeling vision, values and behaviors You can't serve the people who work for you by modeling behaviors that you don't want to be doing yourself. How do you get out of the cycle of having to work nights and weekends if that's how you've modeled and positioned your business culture? 1️⃣ By first clearing your emotional fears about not working those hours, not getting back to people, not being productive and producing during those times. 2️⃣ Second, by upgrading your employees' capabilities and performance, and putting in systems to handle what needs to be done during those off-hours if there truly is work that needs to be done. 3️⃣ And lastly, by communicating your business' cultural expectations to your team, adhering to them yourself, and constructively and caringly "calling people out," a.k.a. giving constructive feedback and coaching, when they are working contrary to those cultural expectations. This is how small service business owners cut their work hours, be better bosses, managers and employers to their staff, and see their revenue double or triple in 6 to 12 months. These are the steps Greg took, and he was able to achieve his goal of reducing his work hours from 80 hours a week down to 2 hours a week. And following these steps, it only took him ONE MONTH to get there! 💪 This is why I love what I do! I love seeing small business owners have the business and the life they want, the reason they went into business in the first place, to control their time and financial destiny, do the work they ❤️, and have a family and personal life that they love so much. #stopworkingnightsandweekends #controlyourschedule #doubleyourbusiness #leadbyexample #loveyourwork #bizcoachjason ♻️ Repost if this helped or inspired 🔔 Follow me, Jason Rosado ⚡️ for more 👇 Subscribe to grab my "Free Up 12 Hours A Week Cheatsheet"
