Reducing food waste, the forte of Second Harvest and Helping Hands (Ontario), is necessary. Thank you. Working together to increase local food production is an antidote to the food insecurity made worse by a weaker economy, lower dollar value, and more unemployment. Making the goal self-sufficiency in local food production will help by contributing the local value chain in multiple ways. Including helping people feel a greater sense of belonging. Equity is a function of opportunity. Those who want to grow food need access to land -- the opportunity to farm.
The Regina Food Bank rescues thousands of lbs of food every week 🥦🍎 — nourishing lives, reducing food waste and fostering hope in the community. As a charitable, community-based organization, the Regina Food Bank leads the fight against food insecurity through nutritious food distribution, education and support programs. Together, we’re not just rescuing food, we’re building a more sustainable future. 💚
