💡 As of September 2023, there were 886 notifications issued to non-compliant landlords, 78 of which led to a criminal complaint to the Police.
This finding emerged from the first #legal study published by the Malta Housing Authority in 2024 that looks at the #compliance in the Maltese #rentalmarket since the introduction of the Private Residential Leases Act in 2020. The study also includes an analysis of the decisions by the adjudicating panel during 2022 and 2023.

New Zealand's property law, which extends ownership to the center of the earth, is a significant obstacle to modern infrastructure development. This outdated legislation is directly impacting tunnel projects, driving up costs and creating legal complexities. It's clear that a legislative amendment is urgently needed to facilitate future city development.
My affliction to Auckland’s love affair with road cones has been duly noted by the media.
The annoying orange obelisks, that appear to breed in their thousands have even gained cult status with some Kiwis intent on erecting a giant one in the Arizona desert for Burning Man. (Can we please park it outside AT after the festival?)
But if there’s one thing that gets my goat more than fluorescent traffic totems, it’s the bright sparks who suggest we dig more dumb tunnels.
We seem to believe that all our woes can be fixed if we turn Earth’s outer crust into Swiss cheese.
Since learning the cost of underground light rail to the airport, I have to ask the question - why are we now funding consultants to investigate tunnelling across the harbour?
It makes no sense.
Just like the bizarre rule that property owners own not only the surface land but what is beneath all the way to the centre of the earth. So if you want to tunnel anywhere, you need to buy the rights under that land first.
Sometimes I wonder where all the rational adults have gone.
