Job Deconstruction, Skill Measurement, and Talent Pools: 3 things to consider when working dynamically. To keep pace with transformational tech (like GenAI) organizations need to start laying the foundations to work in more dynamic ways (so you can better align your workforce with the work to be done). To shift towards dynamic work models, organizations must deconstruct jobs into tasks, understand the skills and aspirations of their people, and evaluate who is best to perform the work. 1 Deconstruct jobs into their tasks and analyze how generative AI might affect each task, then determine the required skills for the non-automated tasks. 2 Gain insight into the skills, aspirations, and experiences of your people (There are several skill measurement approaches - inference, self-assessment, etc. - each with its own advantages and tradeoffs) 3 Determine where and who does what work to use the full workforce intelligently to move at a faster pace. Organizing work into projects and workers into teams based on the tasks and skills needed to complete the work. As work evolves and transformative technologies, like GenAI, automate and augment the way we work, organizations need to consider how to become more adaptive to most effectively leverage the new workforce capacity available to them. As we navigate 2024 with all the buzz about artificial intelligence, one concept continues to capture the spotlight: AI agents. These intelligent entities hold the potential to revolutionise industries, reshape workflows, and redefine human-software interaction. I believe AI agents represent a paradigm shift in how we build software and how we interact with it. This is especially true for business software because traditionally this software is very monolithic, rigid and difficult for users to learn. This results in very high costs of implementation and often does not offer true automation. The future of business information and automation systems is going to be centred around AI agents where they will conduct most of the major processes or flows. Another important use case of AI agents is having a general assistant or what Microsoft calls copilot, assisting the user in every action they want to do or workflow they want to perform. These assistants will not only guide or suggest the best actions the user can take to achieve a certain goal, but actually execute those actions on behalf of the user. All these use cases will dramatically increase productivity, speed up business processes and therefore reduce costs by multiples that we have never seen before. This is exactly what I am doing at Businessflow AI in the field of recruitment.
