At a recent conference I attended this month, the audience was asked which sustainability action they considered the most #ambitious, and the results were fascinating! The top pick (35%) was a large #MedTech company's investment in cutting-edge recycling technology for #packaging. This reveals some key preferences: (1) Beyond incremental changes: People crave solutions that tackle complex issues head-on, not just minor adjustments (e.g., clearer plastic bottles (6%)). (2) Systemic solutions: The winning initiative focused on the broader issue of plastic #waste management, a pressing concern for many. (3) #Innovation takes center stage: The use of advanced recycling technology stood out compared to traditional methods. The technology aspect of the preferred approach might be seen as more innovative than, for example, paper bottles (24%) which are a material substitution but don't necessarily address broader recycling challenges.
