It doesn’t have to be expensive! If advertisers want to ‘check’ on the accessibility of their ad, try closing your eyes while it plays. Many brands don’t even mention the brand name during the ad. This means your ad IS NOT accessible to people with blindness or low vision. BUT… This doesn’t just mean people who identify as disabled. Take for example someone who just isn’t wearing their glasses during the ad OR someone who is busy doing another task while the TV is on. This is #UniversalDesign in action – What’s good for the disability community is good for everyone (with and without a disability). How can we help a person in a #wheelchair? The term ‘wheelchair-bound’ is commonly met with sympathy, as people assume that a person in a wheelchair is one who needs constant help and support to get by. However, the truth is that #PeopleWithDisabilities often do not need our assistance and are perfectly capable of managing on their own. In many ways, the wheelchair enables their sense of independence, allowing them to live without constant “help and support” from able-bodied bystanders. Day 19 of our ‘21 Days of Disability Awareness’ campaign features Soumita Basu, Founder of Zyenika Inclusive Fashion, who shares her experience of the assumptions people make just because she is a wheelchair user. The first step to breaking free from these stereotypes and misconceptions is #awareness. Let’s work together to build a more #inclusive world where #accessibility is the norm, not the exception. Join us in challenging assumptions and stereotypes by signing our petition for accessibility. Say #YesYoAccess, and let’s create a world where everyone can think and act for themselves, without being pushed around! https://lnkd.in/gg6M7JkH #APD #21Days #DisabilityAwareness #Inclusivity #WheelchairUsers
