Isn't facility manager just a fancier word for janitor? In my post yesterday I told you that when I was hired for my first job outside of hospitality I didn't know anything about facility management. So during the somewhat unconventional hiring process I found myself asking the question above to my soon to be boss. I have also heard it many times since then from friends who asked me what I was doing now. Over a year ago I thought maybe I should post stuff about my daily work life on LinkedIn. Just to show people what it really means and because the tasks are so varied. My days go from sitting on about 50 different chairs to pick one out for the new office to crawling underneath desks for most of the morning pulling out cables. So why didn't I? Well humans are naturals in making excuses for not doing something they could benefit from. Mine was: the client would never approve. As a facility management provider I work for a client with very clear guidelines on any communication. So I figured by the time I jump through all the hoops to get posts approved it will loose the fun side of it. Did I try? Of course not... What was the last excuse you made for yourself?
