Car Dealer Podcast Host | Multimedia Manager at Blackball Media | Video, Photography, Web Design, Editorial
Great to have Melanie Shufflebotham from Zapmap on the podcast recently, bringing some much-needed sanity to our usual weekly argument about EVs... In the decade or so I've been doing this job, I've not come across a topic as divisive as electric cars. That's very handy for us as podcast hosts, pumping out an hour of chat every week, but for the wider car industry it's a bit of a problem. Melanie reckons some of this comes down to a sort of 'culture wars' situation – and I'm inclined to agree. There are valid questions to be asked about EVs, and the manner in which a transition to them is handled, but we also have to avoid scaremongering. We all – and I include us in the press here – need to help deescalate the debate around EVs: educating ourselves better on the subject, and passing that knowledge on to consumers. Whatever your opinion on electric cars, a situation where customers are unduly scared of them is ultimately good for no one. So, go and have a listen if you haven't already. Melanie is well placed to offer some real insight into the situation around public charging – and by the sounds of it, while there are still improvements to be made, things aren't as bad as you might think...
I had a lot of fun on the Car Dealer Magazine podcast last week talking #EVs and charging with engaging and knowledgeable James Baggott and Jon Reay - one a keen #EV driver and the other less so! Liked the format featuring topical car stories of the week. ⚡ https://lnkd.in/dpqvuciX
