New research from Trainline reveals that the number of UK “supercommuters,” those traveling at least 90 minutes to work by rail, has doubled since COVID-19. Hybrid working has enabled this shift, with 84% of new supercommuters making the switch during or after the pandemic. Despite long travel times, supercommuters, who spend an average of three days a week in the office, value the balance between home and office work. They cite better work-life balance, lower living costs, and family opportunities as key reasons for their choice. London is the top destination for supercommuters, followed by cities like Manchester and Birmingham.
