A Saber Sticking Upright in the Sand: Imagine you are a US Soldier, a US Marine, or a US Navy Corpsman in the Pacific Theater of War, WWII. You are in a front forward war zone (facing and engaging with the enemy, that rarely surrendered and did not abide by the Geneva Conventions on War) and you see an enemy saber sticking upright in the sand (keeping in mind this was the most prized war trophy of that Theater of War). What would you do? This was an actual experience of my late Dad (he would have been 100 years old in July 2023). I'll make it simple, would you: Take it? Bypass it? Follow a Rule of War (for you lawyers)? Or something else? Answer: Stay in your position. A trap. Most likely a sniper or machine gun team trained on it. A perfect aiming stake, in my opinion. My Dad's unit's Lieutenant was sniped, KIA. His first name, Lance, I don't know his last name, a graduate of Lafayette College. I don't know the specific circumstances. So, avoid, if you want to in my view, the traps of life, money, power, fame, etc. Just be you. Stay in your position. You are good enough. With my best. ------Bob Mordeczko

"Looking Back with a Chuckle: The Waistline Chronicles of a Veteran" As we celebrate another glorious year, I couldn't help but take a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Stumbling upon two photos, 35 years apart, I was struck by a humorous realization. One photo captured my youthful self, freshly commissioned, beaming with pride in my unit. The other, a recent snapshot, where I had the while leaving the army after three decades. Despite the decades that separated these two moments, there was a remarkable constant, other than our proud regimental crest - OUR WAISTLINES! Ah, the military academy! A place where they take raw, enthusiastic youths and sculpt them into lean, mean, fighting machines. It seems the Army has a timeless tradition, immune to generational changes, ensuring that each one of us passes out with a waistline that's enviably slender. But here's the chuckle-worthy twist - maintaining that academy waistline through the years? That's a battle in itself! As veterans, we might fondly remember our youthful physiques, but let's face it, life (and perhaps a few extra helpings at the mess) adds a few inches to that once-slim silhouette. So, here's to the unchanging traditions of the military and the ever-changing waistlines of its veterans. Your little army is small, but a great commander with good strategy and quick reaction always wins when it comes to free action games online. They might have ogres, but you also have different units to throw into battle. When the hoard is approaching, there is nothing like an act of god to wipe it off the battlefield… or retreat when it makes sense. So, mine resources and deploy troops of monks and fighters in a little fighting and strategy game. Engage into clash of clans online for free and bring the blue army to victory.
