My Dual Journey: Being a Doctor and an Entrepreneur Being a doctor and meanwhile an entrepreneur is like exploring two demanding fields, each with its own set of challenges and rewards. But as you should know, the worlds of medicine and entrepreneurship, while solidly different, share core principles of innovation, dedication, and impact to the people. At first you may think that the orderly, methodical world of medicine seems worlds apart from the daring and innovative realm of entrepreneurship. But look a bit closer, and you'll see they share a common drive: solving problems and improving lives. Doctors are on the front lines, diagnosing and treating illnesses with creative approaches to patient care. Entrepreneurs, on the other hand, spot gaps in the market and craft solutions that push society forward. When these two roles merge, they create a powerhouse capable of revolutionizing healthcare, making it more accessible, efficient, and centered around the patient. Thus, doctor-entrepreneurs play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare. Their firsthand experience with patient care provides valuable insights into the shortcomings and opportunities within the system. And that is why I pride myself on being a doctor-entrepreneur. Years of experience with connecting to my patients, I have genuinely observed their main priorities and concerns. Now, I am managing multiple health services that align with my patient needs. For instance, I developed Addiction Telemed. It is a groundbreaking approach to addiction recovery that uses telemedicine. Patients can be guided anytime, anywhere, providing them with an efficient and easily accessible way to recovery. To all doctor-entrepreneurs out there, I believe in you. Let us continue our wonderful advancements to help our patients. #Entrepreneurs #Doctors #Motivation #HealthJourney

#mondayinspiration "What is one core consideration for #healthtech startups before pursuing clinical trials?" For our newsletter "From Addiction to Recovery", we asked our coach and Professor of Health Economics Katarzyna Kolasa, PhD about her experience in supporting businesses that address #addiction. 🍺 She tells the story of when she supported rolling out a medication reimbursement plan that could help save the lives of people with alcohol addiction. But to her surprise, even when the medication was free to get, no one bought it. Instead, individuals paid out of pocket 💶 outside the system to avoid the label of addiction 🏷️. Katarzyna learned that #stigmatization is part of the condition, not separate from it, and that every successful launch of a #healthcare product starts with a sound and sensitive value proposition. In an interview, we ask her what to consider before running clinical trials, the best countries to do so, and when to start generating evidence. Find the answer to the first question below 👇🏼, and read the full interview here 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/dTRAFj9p #reimbursement #clinicaltrials #evidencebased #health

Did you know?? According to the 2022 United States National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH): - 46.8 million (16.7%) Americans (aged 12 and older) battled a substance use disorder in the past year. - 10.5% of Americans 12 and older had an alcohol use disorder in the past year. - About 27.2 million Americans 12 or older (9.7%) reported battling a drug use disorder in the past year, and - In 2021, of an estimated 54.6 million people aged 12 and older who needed treatment for a substance use disorder (SUD), only 26% received any help. Shocking, right?? United States urgently needs novel methods to fill this gap, and make treatment available to those in need. Thankfully there are some entrepreneurs and innovators in the country who have dedicated themselves to find novel solutions that could help people who are battling with substance use disorder. As a physician in one shoe and entrepreneur in another, I agree with Zahid A. 💊 During my everyday clinical practice, I could help just 10 patients per day. 📊 But when I use data from electronic health records with a smart team of experts in digital transformation, we can help people with chronic cardiovascular diseases around the world. 💪 This job is difficult, like making the right decisions during everyday clinical practice, but results are much better for the Healthcare industry and insurance companies and for primary care clinicians! #digitaltransformationjourney #aihealthcare #CDSS #cardiovascularresearch #cardiovascularhealth

Meet the #AbsaSmallBizFriday featured Small Business of the week – CRANIUM MEDICAL PRODUCTS The inception of Cranium Medical Products can be traced back to a profound realisation of the quality and accessibility issues surrounding specialised mental health furniture within local hospitals. This led Allen Cliffe to create a business which develops superior mental health furniture solutions which are ISO-accredited. At the heart of Cranium Medical Product’s mission were these pivotal questions: Would we want our family members or loved ones to be in an environment like this? Could we find comfort and well-being in such an environment? Why does the field of mental healthcare, something as vital as caring for our minds, receive comparatively less attention and investment than other healthcare sectors? Driven by these questions and a deep belief that there had to be a better way, they embarked on a journey to pioneer change in mental healthcare furnishings, championing a brighter and more compassionate future for patients and caregivers alike.
