What's in a name? Is the term "OBESITY" so stigmatized that the only solution lies in changing the name? One probable name is ABCD (Adiposity-Based Chronic Disease); will that serve the purpose? How do we define Obesity? Is that a disease or risk factor? It was first recognized as a disease by WHO in 1948, European Commission defines it as a "chronic relapsing disease, which in turn acts as a gateway to a range of other non-communicable diseases. Medicine is plagued by untrustworthy #clinicaltrials. How many studies are #faked or flawed? Investigations suggest that, in some fields, at least one-quarter of clinical trials might be problematic or even entirely made up, warn some researchers. They urge stronger scrutiny. Researchers called these ‘#zombie’ trials because they had the semblance of real research, but closer scrutiny showed they were actually hollow shells, masquerading as reliable information. The researcher rejected every zombie trial, but by now, almost three years later, most have been published in other journals — sometimes with different data to those submitted with the manuscript he had seen. As per a JAMA publication, from March 2020 through December 2021, there were 4511 deaths representing 622 excess deaths among US doctors. But, Physicians had lower excess mortality than the general population. Any estimate on Indian doctors? A preprint last year was showing ten times case fatality rate among Indian doctors compared to the general population. Does that say something about the occupation? An epidemic curve based on obituaries of scholars in China shows an interesting way of death estimates.
