📃Scientific paper: Endoscopy in Craniosynostosis Surgery: Evolution and Current Trends Abstract: Over the past 30 years, advances in endoscopic technology and advancing interest in the benefits of minimally invasive approaches for craniofacial surgery have resulted in these techniques becoming a part of the standard of care in the treatment of craniosynostosis. In this review, we discuss the evolution and adoption of endoscopic-assisted strip craniectomy procedures. In addition to reviewing the studies describing various nuances and modifications to minimally invasive strip craniectomy, attention to comparisons in outcomes between traditional or open cranial vault reconstructions and endoscopic-assisted techniques is highlighted for different craniosynostosis diagnoses. The Medtronic Hugo™ RAS system is commercially available in certain geographies. Regulatory requirements of individual countries and regions will determine approval, clearance, or market availability. In the EU, the Hugo™ RAS system is CE marked. In the U.S., the Hugo™ system is an investigational device not for sale.

I agree with Medtronic. Our studies also show that only 3-5% of all surgeries can be performed robotically. However, it offers many advantages for patients. The current robots are technically limited for wider use and also due to high costs. This is the reason why Hellstern medical has developed the RoboCockpit noac. Reduced blood loss: There is less blood loss. Shorter hospital stays: Patients can be discharged from the hospital more quickly. Greater range of motion: Surgeons have a greater range of motion and dexterity.

Both robotic surgery and laparoscopic surgery have evolved as advanced minimally invasive techniques. Which means bigger operations can now be done with smaller incisions. Laparoscopic surgery has been around since the early 20th century. The first laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) was performed in 1987. This technique involves small incisions through which a camera and surgical instruments are inserted, allowing surgeons to perform procedures with minimal smaller incisions. On the other hand, robotic surgery emerged in the late 20th century, with the da Vinci Surgical System being introduced in the early 2000s. The da Vinci System, developed by Intuitive Surgical, enhances laparoscopic surgery by offering greater precision and control through robotic arms controlled by a console. It was initially used for urological and gynecological procedures but has taken off in general surgery as well. In summary, laparoscopic surgery has a longer history, dating back to the 20th century, while robotic surgery, particularly the da Vinci System, is a more recent advancement, introducing robotic assistance and improved capabilities to minimally invasive procedures.
