An alternative solution to Light Rail Transit for Central Auckland 🚡 Proposed route: Auckland Airport -> Onehunga - Stops in populated areas like Mangere Town Centre, Mangere Bridge, and Onehunga - Capacity of 3,000 passengers per hour - Average journey time ~26 mins, average bus trip 44 mins, average car time ~33 mins (not including peak traffic). - Compared to Light rail the cable car could be built at a lower cost and in less time, with less disruption. Providing a rapid transit option to and from the Airport, with no variability in travel time, would be a valuable addition to Auckland's transport network. 🚦 I’m excited to share the Azadlig Avenue Traffic and Transportation Development Project, designed by me! 🚍🚴♂️ This project aims to make our city more efficient, sustainable, and safer for everyone. It includes reverse-direction bus lanes to prioritize public transport, new traffic lights for enhanced safety, and dedicated bike lanes to promote eco-friendly travel. 🌍 The bike and bus lanes from Shemsi Bedelbeyli Street will connect to a new transportation hub. There are rumors that the #Japan sponsored #Colombo Light Rail Transit (LRT) project is back. Here's a #HarryBeck diagram of the entire proposed system. IMPORTANT: Only the segment from Malabe to Colombo Fort is currently under discussion. The remaining likes are all tentative plans for the future. ... I wrote this article back in 2020, about the #Colombo LRT Project. https://lnkd.in/gPQARw2q My conclusion was: "Overall, CLRT is probably not worth it. The most low-hanging-fruit for Sri Lanka seems to lie in improving Bus Transport. Hence, I think what Sri Lanka needs is, not a Light Rail Plan (CLRT or otherwise), but a Bus 2.0 Plan. We need to get people out of cars and into the busses." I don't think I've changed my mind much since then. But I'm happy for the future to prove me wrong.

#Ljubljana railway station renovation continues   Ljubljana railway station is an important core node in TEN-T network as it is the junction of 2 corridors and all freight transport goes through it, approximately 150 trains per day. The upgrade of the central railway will, amongst other: ✔ ensure direct freight trains run on both core corridors that are part of the comprehensive TEN T network ✔ provide possibility to transport trains 740 m long ✔ increase the speed of transport The renovation takes place in 3 phases, with the first stage – replacement of the railway overpass over Dunajska cesta already under way. This week, the contract Phase 2 and 3 of the renovation of Ljubljana railway was awarded. The investment will be approximately EUR 200 million. These upgrades, to be completed by 2026, will make rail transport more efficient and increase the competitiveness of SEE region.   #railway #Ljubljana #Slovenia #freighttransport
